Di Marzio: Moncada observed Basel duo this past weekend – the situation

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada was present at Basel’s 2-1 win over Yverdon this past weekend to observe two of their players, a report claims.

Milan are in desperate need of a defensive reinforcement in January due to the serious injuries of Pierrw Kalulu and Marco Pellegrino. On this front, Moncada has already begun his work by not just watching Lloyd Kelly, but also a Basel defender.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Moncada was present at Basel’s 2-1 win over Yverdon to observe the performance of Finn van Breemen. The 20-year-old has been on Milan’s wish list for quite some time and the director wanted to see him again in action.

In addition to van Breemen, as added by Di Marzio, Moncada also kept an extra eye on the midfielder Renato Veiga. The 20-year-old joined the Swiss side from Sporting ahead of the season and has impressed so far. Most likely, however, he’s not a top target for Milan at this stage.

  1. My guess is that there are many steps to his scouting, a bit like a giant Kanban board where all scouts give reports to advance each prospect. This could be the first stage that would include a visit and viewing of the player in action by the head scout. It’d be great to have some insights on how this scouting functions.

  2. Haha, Pioli will never play him anyway. If I were 20 years old player slightly building my career, I would stay the f** away from Pioli
