There are currently ‘no signs’ that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will renew his contract with AC Milan, according to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio.
There is a lot of uncertainty at Milan currently after the fallout between Gazidis and Zvonimir Boban, which led to the latter being sacked from his position. This uncertainty extends to members of the squad too given the high possibility that a new manager will be coming in, and in particular Zlatan Ibrahimovic whose deal expires in June.
Gianluca Di Marzio spoke to Sky Italia (via MilanNews), and was asked what will happen if the club sets a ceiling of €2.5million for salaries.
He replied by claiming that he would not create alarms about the departure of all Milan’s important players, and that there are ‘always exceptions’ to such rules.
If true, Ibrahimovic would be way outside the threshold, and Di Marzio claims that it is not yet known whether he will stay or not. It may be Ibrahimovic himself who decides not to continue with Milan or Milan may have other plans.
“I have no big signs that Ibra will play another season with AC Milan, beyond the salary cap,” he concluded.
