Di Marzio: Nottingham Forest could terminate Origi loan – America move possible

By Oliver Fisher -

Divock Origi’s return to the Premier League was supposed to help him rediscover some form, but he has struggled at Nottingham Forest and his loan could be cut short.

According to Sky’s Gianluca Di Marzio, there is the concrete possibility that Origi’s season-long loan at Forest – which also features an option to buy in their favour – could be terminated halfway through as he is struggling to make an impact.

That would leave Milan needing to find another solution for the Belgian given that they remain his parent club, and a move to the USA could follow because he attention of many MLS clubs such as Los Angeles FC, FC Dallas and Cincinnati.

Origi has made just nine appearances for Forest, amassing just 178 minutes minutes of game time, and only two shots on goal. These are numbers that underline his lack of impact in a side that are battling to stay up.

The former Liverpool player is under contract with Milan until 30 June 2026 and receives a net salary of €4m net per season, which made him one of the top earners.

Therefore, if he did come back then the management would almost certainly try and find a new club for him rather than keeping him and using him in the second half of the season.

    1. No. Forest will pay all his salary untill June 2024. All Milan needs to do is sending him out on loan, untill his contract expire.

That’s how Milan will save money, and not to compensate contract termination.

      1. So magically a club each year will want to pay Milan 4M for a player who’s couldn’t even start for a team fighting relegation in the championship? Keep dreaming.

    2. They would owe him the balance, so there would be no point. The only way we don’t pay him the balance is if he accepts less because of the possibility that he might not play first team football until expiration. So it will depend on whether he cares about playing or money. Hopefully one of these MLS sides steps up and takes him. What a disaster of a signing.

  1. This is the type of signing that loses you your job. By the way Inter are trying to off load Arnautovic. Maldini can sure pick them.

    1. He had 0 dollars of capital to work with to purchase a new striker.

Now, if you want to get worked up, that contract can be questioned. Operating costs are MUCH different than capital expenditures.
