Di Marzio: Milan expected to pocket €5m as Origi nears MLS move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are close to completing another outgoing operation towards the end of the January transfer window with Divock Origi seemingly America-bound.

According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio on the Sky podcast ‘Buongiorno Calciomercato’ (via PianetaMilan), Origi is now expected to join Los Angeles FC before the January mercato closes.

It will be a loan deal with an obligation to buy set at around €5m. It is a deal that would make the Milan management happy as they would get rid of a very heavy contract in terms of salary, while making a pure capital gain.

The Belgian forward joined the Rossoneri on a free transfer from Liverpool before the start of last season but he never hit the same heights, scoring just two goals and having injury issues.

He was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest (with an option to buy) in the hope that it would help him rekindle his form, but he hasn’t done very well back in the Premier League.

In fact, Origi is yet to score a goal for the East Midlands club and thus reports began to circulate about a potential early termination of his loan. Now, a new experience in the MLS awaits.
