Di Marzio praises Kjaer: “He was truly everyone’s captain, a real man”

By Isak Möller -

When Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch yesterday, Simon Kjaer acted in the best way possible. In addition to quickly notifying the medical staff, he formed the wall around his teammates and consoled his wife.

It was a tough evening for the football fans and fortunately, Eriksen escaped death as the medical staff brought him back to life. Simon Kjaer, as the captain of the team, acted like a true leader and did everything right.

On his Instagram profile, the well-known journalist Gianluca Di Marzio praised the Milan defender and his actions last night. He echoed the thoughts of everyone else, as Kjaer did his duties as captain and more in a tough situation.

“He was everyone’s hero, not just his teammate and friend Eriksen. He was the first to help him, the first to console and be close to his family and to ask his teammates to act as protection. Kjaer was truly everyone’s captain, a real man, a great friend to Eriksen, whom we all love,” he stated (via MilanNews).

Although Denmark eventually lost the game to Finland, all that matters is that Eriksen is alive and well. In hindsight, though, perhaps the game shouldn’t have been resumed at least not in the same evening.

  1. I was at the stadium it was very emotional, whoever was there last night will never forget it. the way finland fans shouted Christian! And we responded Eriksen! from the opposit site of the stadium still give me goosebums.

Uefa gave the players 2 choices, finish the game now or play the next day at 12. That shows how much uefa care about the players! They should not have accepted neither of the offers. How can they go home to sleep after what they saw, and get up next day at 8 to get ready for the game at 12.

  2. He deserves to be the captain he has been our anchor and always does all the work to go through every obstacle, and most importantly he is a leader with loyalty, humility and respect. Great job Simon, that’s what heroes do.

  3. Wish Maldini and Pioli make him the captain this season, when we can have Donnarumma as a captain at the last end of the season, I think Simon is 100 times better than him as captain.
