Di Marzio: Renewal of Giroud imminent – he will sign a new one-year deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to announce the renewal of Olivier Giroud’s contract in the coming weeks, according to a report.

We published an update on the renewal of Giroud on Friday, stating that it is one of Milan’s priorities together with that of Leao, and yesterday the forward gave an interview to Canal Football Club in France during which he expressed a desire to extend his deal.

According to Di Marzio, his words made the Rossoneri management very happy and once the current transfer window closes at the end of the month, Giroud will be called in to Casa Milan to sign a one-year renewal at the same figures as in his current deal.

No option for a further year will be included in the new contract though contrary to other reports circulating, meaning the 36-year-old will therefore sign a one-year contract renewal.

Tonight, against Lazio, he will look to end a six-game scoring drought that is his longest since arriving.

  1. Good. Then bring in Colombo next season and/or buy a young enough, PROVEN striker who can actually score goals to be the understudy of Giroud and eventually replace him.
