Di Marzio reveals €35m Arsenal target Mudryk is on Milan’s radar

By Oliver Fisher -

Arsenal are in pole position to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, but AC Milan have also had his name on their radar according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 21-year-old has been a revelation for the Ukrainian side with 7 goals in 12 league appearances and 3 goals in 6 Champions League games. His performances in Europe have been turning heads the most, with a number of different clubs now having been linked and Arsenal above all.

Di Marzio was interviewed by Dutch outlet Soccer News, and he was asked about several different situations ahead of the January transfer window including the future of Mudryk.

“Mudryk is a really good player. AC Milan wanted him in the summer in case Rafael Leão left, but he was too expensive for Milan,” he said.

“Right now, Arsenal are trying to secure him because they know they are dealing with a very talented player. But whether it will work out in January… I don’t know.

“That they are in pole-position to capture him is certain, though. But: Shakhtar are a tough negotiating partner and they are likely to ask around €35m for him.”

Of course there is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding the future of Leao, so it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri’s interest in Mudryk ended last summer or if they could rekindle a pursuit in the event they have to replace the Portuguese winger.

  1. This is the dream IMO. The ideal player for us. Unfortunately I think we have to sell Leao because we can’t risk losing him for free. Get around100m if we can. Get Mudryk for 35-50m. Then get a ST and a RW with the remaining funds. Or we try to get just one of either ST or RW and try to get a top player like a Vlahovic, Nunez, or for RW Chiesa.

    1. Wouldn’t it be just delightful to poach Chiesa and Vlahovic from Juve!

It still amazes me they let Dybala and Kulusevski leave. What an attack that could have been

      1. @SJF so true!

Vlahovic and his agents will go to wherever the biggest paycheck is, can’t blame em… just we won’t be that team with our mid-tier finances. Half the PL can outspend us.

Chiesa on the other hand…. I’m led to believe he would overwhelmingly want to remain in Serie A. If Juve get financial sanctions or worse, are thrown out of the division, then we would be in pole position. Especially if we are forced to sell Leao, that €80mn+ war chest would be plenty enough to afford him (plus I think he liked working with Pioli in Florence)

      2. Dybala is injury prone and he want more than 7-8 million as salary. You don’t want to pay that amount of money for an injury prone player.

And Kulusevski only wants Spurs because they offered him big salary beside reuniting with Conte.

  2. If Chelsea want Leao, tell them 100m plus Zyech.
Buy Mudryk and a striker like the young Portuguese fella.
Offer Ajax CDK plus a few euros for Gakpo.
    Bring in Amrabat.
Promote Bozzolan to back up LB.
    Now we have a team

    Mike Drop…

    1. If we had Gakpo and CDK who do you think would play?
It would be good for everyone.
Let cdk regain confidence and develop.
Milan will have a player ready to contribute.
Ajax can make some money and Milan can save on their investment.
Id give them cdk and 15m, job done. Nightmare over

  3. If Chelsea offers 100 mil, Milan should accept it and buy Ounahi, Mudryk, Doku and Kudu. This will make Milan much stronger and leao wouldn’t be missed, sell CDK also, then Milan can dream of catching Napoli. enough of waiting till summer, get these players now

    1. CDK was just hype, nothing special about him, I read Leeds wants him, now is the time to sell a recoup some money , before it become a too late.
