Di Marzio: ‘One step away’ – Milan to close €14-15m deal with Spurs for defender

AC Milan are now one step away from signing Emerson Royal from Spurs with an agreement between the clubs now very close, a report claims.

After the links intensified again in recent days, Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that the Rossoneri are currently ‘closer than ever’ to closing the deal with Tottenham for the Brazilian defender and are ‘one step away’.

Emerson Royal’s name first popped up during the month of June as a possible reinforcement for Paulo Fonseca’s squad and after a quieter period, the acceleration of the last few days has been followed by a new attempt on Sunday.

Milan’s decision to further increase their offer to the Premier League club for Emerson comes a few hours after the serious injury suffered by Alessandro Florenzi in the friendly win against Manchester City in the USA.

The former Roma man underwent an MRI scan and a specialist evaluation which revealed ligament and meniscal damage, with the consequent need to undergo arthroscopic surgery.

An agreement with Spurs is ‘very close’ and Milan will try to get it fully over the line in the coming hours and days. It is expected that the final figure will be around €14-15m plus bonuses.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri are also in the process of finalising the arrival of Strahinja Pavlovic (€18m plus €2m bonuses) and presented their first official offer for Youssouf Fofana.
