AC Milan are in the running to sign Facundo Gonzalez from Valencia but they are not leading the race at present, a report claims.
Gianluca Di Marzio writes how Gonzalez’s contract with Valencia expires in 2024 and he is attracting the interest of Salernitana in Italy above all, with Milan and Juventus in the background.
The Campanian club would be able to guarantee the 20-year-old the kind of playing time that the Rossoneri and the Bianconeri cannot, which makes them a more appealing destination from a project perspective.
However, there are Premier League sides also paying attention to the Uruguay U20 international, and their interest could materialise in the next few days. If they don’t come forward, Salernitana will have a good chance.
Born in Montevideo, Gonzalez was part of the Uruguay side that won the U20 World Cup and beat Italy in the final, with a stellar defensive record during the tournament.
He currently plays for Valencia Mestalla, which is their development team that plays in the second tier in Spain.
He is tall and left footed, not an easy find. I say go for it, it is worth the risk.
That’s it? Tall and left footed? Man I missed a whole career at a top club
He has physical predispositions that are not easy to find. And thats good enough for start. You are signing a 20 year old practicly Primavera player, not an expensive established player.
Sign him, then loan him out to Salernitana. Problem solved. BY the way, he has an Italian passport so not an issue.
@giancarlo
Yes this would be ideal, if we have the budget for it. Gives him a year to acclimatise to the league in a far lower pressure environment. Any idea what fee Valencia are demanding for him?
His contract expires in a year. So I wouldn’t assume no more than a few million. Probably no more than 5 million.
Dont waste non EU slot for defender, better use that wisely on striker . You can find many good defender on EU slot
