Di Marzio: Spezia frontrunners to land Milan playmaker as Verona move fades

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan playmaker Daniel Maldini is still expected to go out on loan after a potential move to Hellas Verona collapsed, a report claims.

According to what is being reported in Corriere della Sera by Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanLive), the 20-year-old is now destined to join Spezia who overtook Verona in the race to sign him, with no agreement found between Milan and the Gialloblu.

Verona were in pole position but ultimately a disagreement over the transfer formula means that Spezia are currently the team most likely to land Maldini, with their head coach Luca Gotti hoping to welcome him.

Spezia are keen on signing him in the event of Janis Antiste’s departure, meaning that if the Frenchman were to say goodbye, then they would concretely push to sign Maldini on a season-long loan deal. Milan have made it clear that they will not entertain an option for it to become permanent.
