Today could be a decisive day in AC Milan’s pursuit of Marcus Rashford, while Kyle Walker is also waiting for a response from the management.
Milan have been extensively linked with moves for both Rashford and Walker, who wish to leave Manchester United and Manchester City respectively to try a new experience after years of service.
It was believed that the departure of Noah Okafor to RB Leipzig could facilitate the arrival of the English forward, both in terms of funds and a spot in the squad. However, that deal has now collapsed.
Thus, the plans have been left in limbo somewhat with many questioning the strategy. A forward is definitely needed with Okafor apparently injured, Samuel Chukwueze still out plus Christian Pulisic and Alvaro Morata going off with problems last night.
After the 2-1 win over Como last night, Gianluca Di Marzio spoke live on Sky (via MilanNews) to give an update on Milan’s pursuit of Rashford and Walker.
“From the signals coming from Manchester, tomorrow will be a decisive day. A meeting is expected between his brother, who is also the player’s agent, and Manchester United. Milan are waiting for news,” he said.
“The signals are of a day that will make it clear whether Rashford will be Milan’s. He has always been a first choice, even more so with the injuries of Morata and Pulisic. A complicated negotiation, the tactical aspect needs to be understood given that he is a player who likes to start from the left.
“Something went wrong in Okafor’s recovery time and Leipzig decided not to continue. Now there is also the problem of finding a team willing to take Okafor, otherwise Okafor will have to be removed from the list to insert another player.
“If Rashford arrives, Walker cannot arrive. If Rashford makes another choice, Milan will go for Walker who is waiting for Milan. He only wants Milan.”
Calabria & Florenzi > Walker & Emerson.
Downgrades people, downgrades
Walker might actually be good in Italy but he is 34. Useless signing.
What are you own about? Walker on 1 leg is better than ANY rb in Seria A let alone the useless Calabria and always injured Florenzi
A couple of years ago I completely agree, but he is getting old and probably won’t be useful after next season.
We should maybe sign him to replace Florenzi, but next season we’ll be stuck with 35-36 yo Walker and Emerson.
After next season? Then we’d have the luxury of having a MASSIVE upgrade over current (fit) RBs and we’d have 1,5 years to find his replacement. And getting Walker without a transfer fee with the rumored salary demands would be a helluva steal!!!
Let’s not forget we actually PAID ALMOST 20M€ for a walking trashcan who goes by the name Emerson Fkng Royal. So, getting Walker for free…? DO IT ALREADY!!!
Disagree on walker dude. even now, he is still better than our current RB. + people forget, Cafu joined Milan at 33 and he became a legend. That was back then when players werent as physically fit as today. Walker even at 34, can have 2-3 good years with us.
It seems Tomori is being sold and Walker seems to his likely replacement. With okafor still on the books we won’t bring Rashford. Moncada is doing a terrible job so far.
In what world is Walker a replacement for Tomori?
We can’t offload an English player to be able to bring in two this transfer period. The rule allows just one.
Decisive day 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We will be linked with various comings and goings for the next two weeks, then the various departures won’t happen and we’ll loan a guy from Ligue 1 none of us have heard of.
Moncada out.
Regardless whether people wants us to sign Rashford or not then we definitely need someone like him as an addition and maybe even 2 of his kind.
Chukwuze is out for roughly the rest of the month and up until now hasn’t offered much compared to what he is actually paid by the club. Add to that if transfermarkt is to be believed then Okafor will now be out until March. Potentially now also adding Pulisic on top of those injuries the we are in an absolute dire need of some additions up front.
I say add Rashford on loan and buy Berardi in this transfer window and if Chukueze turns out to get over his injury before the mercato closes down again then sell him if there is an opportunity there.
Even though I’d looooove us to buy Berardi, the inconvenient fact is that we are not BUYING anyone this month. Not without selling first and who are we selling when everyone is injured? So… No Berardi then. 🙁
But as we could get Rashford in a pretty safe deal (loan + option to buy) I’d settle for that. Even if I did prefer Walker but as you said, we’re running out of wingers now so it’s a no-brainer really.
Probably not but for what I care we can throw in a couple of youth talents to get that deal done more easily. Sassuolo is a team currently under reconstruction and surely we must have some talents below our top ones that could make this a very cheap deal for us. I’m obviously not talking about players like Camarda, Zeroli, Liberali, Bartesaghi or jimenez but this is a time for damage control and most talents will never get a chance with the first team anyways,
I would like to see Walker in Milan as well as he would be a great upgrade over the rb’s we already got but we really must get Rashford or someone of his level who can go directly in and contribute otherwise we will find ourselves up sh!t creek in our attempt to qualifying for cl next year.
We don’t need another attacking winger, IMO. And we could certainly do better than a 34yo RB. Are there really no other targets?
I think the primary signing should be Sartori, but if it’s true that we’re interested in him then he’d likely come in the summer so as to not derail Bologna.
As for players, management needs to bring in specifically what Conceicao is asking for. I don’t know that Rashford is it.
