Di Marzio: Watford initiate contacts with AC Milan over wantaway defender

By Isak Möller -

After completing the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, AC Milan are ready to shift focus to the departures. In order to fund their upcoming operations on the transfer market, they will need to part ways with a few players in January.

Ricardo Rodriguez seems to be one of these, as he’s no longer the first in the pecking order of Stefano Pioli for the left-back role. As a result of Theo Hernandez’ cracking start with the Rossoneri, the former Wolfsburg man has had limited playing time.

Of course, as the Euros will take place next summer, the situation is far from ideal for Rodriguez. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Watford have initiated contacts with Milan for the defender, who by the looks of it will leave in January.

It remains to be seen where the parties will go from here, although it’s clear that Rodriguez isn’t lacking options. As they would need a replacement, Milan will most likely only let him go on a permanent deal.
