Di Marzio: Why Man Utd were only willing to loan ‘one of the strongest right-backs in Europe’ to Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United have chosen not to give AC Milan an option to buy on Diogo Dalot because they believe he may have a future at the club, a report claims.

The Rossoneri secured Dalot as their final signing of the summer late last week, as the Portuguese youth international will arrive on a season-long dry loan deal from United.

However, a number of sources – including Tuttosport (via MilanLive) – have reported that Milan are already thinking about trying to make it a permanent deal, as well as the loan of Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid.

Sky journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews) in his latest segment highlighted Dalot as ‘one of the strongest right-backs in Europe’ and a player that directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara strongly pushed to sign.

However, because of this United have decided not to grant the Rossoneri an option to buy but instead simply a dry loan, though whether that situation changes during the season remains to be seen.
