Di Marzio would be ‘surprised’ if Donnarumma doesn’t renew but: “Everyone does their job”

Gigio Donnarumma has been the main topic of the day as Milan have been linked with a few potential replacements. However, the will of the Rossoneri remains absolutely clear: they want to keep the youngster.

Having said that, this is easier said than done as Mino Raiola is playing hardball in the negotiations, asking for €10m per year to renew. Although Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers, this is too much for Milan.

Speaking in a live session on Twitter, Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews) was asked about the future of Donnarumma and provided an answer that might fuel comfort and worry at the same time. In short, the situation is very uncertain.

“It would be bad if this love story ended like this without a renewal. Then, everyone does their job and if he [Gigio] makes requests that aren’t accepted, it’s right that he doesn’t renew. But it would be a shame if Donnarumma didn’t renew.

“It would surprise me a lot if June came without an agreement. In that case, the club will have to sign a goalkeeper of an important level, that’s why I think the situation will have to be resolved by early May,” he stated.

Milan have just ten games left of the season and after the win vs. Fiorentina, they can still catch up with Inter. However, they will most likely have to focus on finishing second, which would be a great result for them.
