Di Stefano draws parallel to Pioli and explains why Fonseca likely will not change formation

Paulo Fonseca is preparing for one of the most important games of his managerial career, with AC Milan taking on Inter tomorrow. A win is needed to keep his job but no formation changes are foreseen, as explained by Peppe Di Stefano.

Milan have had a tough start to the season, with one win, two draws and one loss, and they desperately need to turn things around with a win tomorrow. The defence has been one of the main issues but unlike Stefano Pioli, who switched to a three-man backline, Fonseca will continue with his ideas.

Speaking live on Sky Italia earlier today, as cited by Radio Rossonera, Peppe Di Stefano shared his thoughts on the matter. He explained that while the change may have worked for Pioli, Fonseca is in no position to try such a change in the first place.

“Pioli changed to a 3-man defence and that was the beginning of a comeback. However, Pioli wasn’t at risk and wouldn’t have been even in the event of a resounding defeat. Fonseca, on the other hand, is playing future, this seems clear to me. He’s playing for his prospects at Milan and that’s why I think he will stick to his ideas,” he stated.

The game is scheduled for 20:45 tomorrow and after losing six consecutive derbies, it’s time for the Rossoneri to change the trend. If not, then Inter will make history as none of the sides has managed seven consecutive wins before.
