Dida defends Tatarusanu amid ‘unfair’ criticism aimed at goalkeeper

By Oliver Fisher -

Nelson Dida believes that Ciprian Tatarusanu has been on the end of some unfair criticism as the deputy to Mike Maignan at AC Milan.

Dida spent some time as the goalkeeping coach of Milan under Stefano Pioli and worked closely with Tatarusanu as well as Maignan. The Rossoneri have been forced into using their back-up for an extended period again due to the Frenchman’s injury problems, with mixed reviews on how the Romanian has done standing in.

Now, Dida has spoken out in defence of Tatarusanu as he was interviewed as part of the Milan Games Week, where the Rossoneri’s eSports team were there with Konami, competing in the eFootball Italia Cup. Dida spoke briefly with the reporters about a number of topics, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

On Tatarusanu: “It’s unfair to think that the team lost points because of him. He made many saves. Maignan is strong, I hope he can return soon, but ‘Tata’ is a goalkeeper worthy of Milan.”

On the Scudetto race: “The weekend of 28 May will see Milan challenge Juventus, and who knows if it will be as decisive as it was twenty years ago in the Champions League.”

  1. Tatarusanu is good. But when he makes a mistake, commentators don’t stop talking about it; yet, when Donnarumma made mistakes, these were immediately forgotten.
