‘Has given everything’ – Dida praises Leao amid questions regarding his Milan future

Several questions are swirling about Rafael Leao’s future at AC Milan and former goalkeeper Dida has offered some support to the Portuguese.

It has been a rough few years for Leao. Indeed, the star has shone on occasions, but he has been overshadowed by his misfortunes. For example, he has scored a decent number of goals this season, especially when looking at his injury issues.

However, it will be remembered for the latter part, rather than it being a negative on a positive record. When you have Leao’s quality, it is understandable why the criticism is elevated. However, it is often done unfairly.

Leao ‘can return’ to his former self

At present, the suggestions are that Milan may part with the player who has been the star of the project for so long. However, Dida has looked to turn the perspective when speaking to Tuttosport, praising the forward in a tough moment, as relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“Rafa has done so much for Milan over the years. I think we shouldn’t forget everything he’s accomplished since he arrived, several seasons ago now. Nor should we forget how much he’s grown over this long period.

“I think that, with the right amount of calm and renewed serenity, Leao can return to his former self and bring, as he often did during his seasons with AC Milan, a lot of joy to the fans and to himself.”

  1. Leao in
    25-26 so far 12 Goal contributions playing out of position.
    24-25: 25 Goal contributions;
    23-24: 29 Goal contributions;

    Pulisic:
    25-26: so far 13 contributions
    24-25: 29 contributions
    23-24: 26 contributions.

    Leao gets booed but Chris doesn’t. Yet they put up practically similar numbers. Interesting perspective.

    1. I guess attitude does play a certain role.
      And you can’t deny Pulisic can be found everywhere on the pitch contrary to Leao.

      1. OK but this isn’t track and field. I dont care if he moves around more – is there more on the end of all that moving around he does? Their output is nearly identical.

          1. Yeah, the numbers don’t matter. Who cares about goals or assists. In the end what is counted is attitude, not goals or wins.

          2. Did you see Como the other day? Doesn’t matter they lost, it is the attitude and attacking football that mattered. They were really happy they lost while attacking. Same with Sassuolo, nobody cares they won because they played low block. Everyone was unhappy they won in the end. It’s the attitude, nobody cares about results or numbers.

          3. “Ffs max… It’s about the jeers.” jeers of halfwit people that can’t do 2+2? Who cares about those “people”? I couldn’t care less what some 80IQ clown thinks. Numbers don’t lie, people are obviously stupid.

        1. I think it is really interesting to check the psychology of people like that. If he was trying hard but had 10 goal contributions per season he’d be great. They’d probably say “He fights for every ball, we don’t care he is a bad player”. Yet when you see someone like Musah who did that, and ran his a** off, but was sort of clumsy and had some bad decisions as he is young, nobody said that.

  2. Can we please stop this either/or thing with Laeo and Pulisic? If one is good the other is bad? I think the easiest answers are always the best answers. Allegri comes in and stresses defense above all else…equals less scoring. Both players are not playing their preferred position. Equals less scoring. Both players have been fighting nagging injuries all season, equals less scoring. Do they suck…no. Are they better than the rest of the attacking players? Yes by a mile. I sense both are finding form. Both have looked much more lively the last several games….i think you are going to see both guys finishing strong.

    1. It’s not about this one or that one is better or worse. Someone can have a bad time, no question. But as a coach it’s a bit risky to hope for ‘next match he’ll recover’ on and on and on.
      I do hope both start firing finally. But I can do that. I am just a fan not the coach.

  3. Both Pulisic and Leao should be moved on if we plan to work long term with Allegri. That’s just a fact.
