Diego Laxalt sends message to Milan after sealing exit: “My heart is now with Celtic”

Defender Diego Laxalt has sent a message to parent club AC Milan that his ‘heart is with Celtic’ after completing a deadline day loan move.

Late last night, Celtic have confirmed the signing of Laxalt on a season-long loan deal.

The Scottish club confirmed on their official website that the Uruguay international will arrive on a temporary basis. The 27-year-old joined Milan from Genoa in 2018, and has made 35 appearances for the Rossoneri.

Celtic will be Milan’s first opponents in this season’s UEFA Europa League group stages, with a visit to Glasgow lined up for October 22.

Interviewed by Celtic TV, Laxalt spoke about many topics including the upcoming Europa League clashes between the two clubs.

“It’s just a coincidence that Celtic and AC Milan were drawn in the same group , but at the moment my head and my heart are with Celtic and I will try to do my best, no matter the opponent, be it Milan or anyone else. My heart is now with Celtic,” he said (via MilanNews).
