Di Marzio: Loftus-Cheek to miss next two games due to injury – the latest

By Isak Möller -

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was forced to leave the clash between AC Milan and Lazio last night after just 29 minutes on the pitch. By the looks of it, the Englishman will be back in action after the international break.

The former Chelsea man has been an important player for Stefano Pioli’s side at the start of this season and his injury is certainly a blow. Rade Krunic and Ismael Bennacer are already on the injury list and the midfield is thus a little thin at the moment.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the abdominal injury means Loftus-Cheek will miss the games against Borussia Dortmund and Genoa next week. Tests will be carried out tomorrow to determine the full extent of the injury.

Yunus Musah will likely replace Loftus-Cheek in both of these games and as a result, Yacine Adli could start yet again on Wednesday. It won’t be an easy game for Milan but they will need the three points after drawing the first game in the UCL.

  1. Unfortunately, it begins. That is why 9 coaches at Chelsea never relied on him…he always had a billion of small injuries and was never at 100% for extended periods. Some people think those coaches are idiots and Milan management is brilliant…

    1. Giving how many chelsea players did well before/after being with chelsea, I will have to say that a player not doing well there has to do with the coaches or the environment there.

      1. I think if Mourinho, Hidink, Conte etc. don’t pick you for the first team it has nothing to do with the enviroment, but you. Also, he was injured basically every season, and a lot of smaller injuries. Just like this one.

  2. He already was injured, but Pioli just needed best opportunity to win. It is just the risk of selection. There are 2 very important games till brake, and game against Dortmund will tell us all.
Draw keep us in game, win push us to pass group, and loss would make our group survival less possible.

  3. It did not look like a major injury. Yes, he has been injury prone but this isnt alarming. Plus, Musah is great, Pobega can hold his own in serie A. We have depth. We will be ok.

  4. That’s unfortunate. But we have Musah who’s on fire and Pobega as backup so i’m sure we can manage two matches without RLC.

But Pioli needs to be carefull tho. Right now our mid only have Musah, Reijnders, Adli, and Pobega. I hope none of them injured so they can be ready for PSG, Juve, and Napoli.
