Dinamo Zagreb president Mirko Barisic has cooled rumours that the club’s star player Dani Olmo is closing in on a €30m move to AC Milan.
The Rossoneri have been linked with a move for Olmo repeatedly over the past few months, with confirmations arriving from the club’s sporting director Marko Vukelic who stated back in November that their prized asset Olmo is ‘on the list’ of Milan.
Reliable Croatian outlet Sportske dropped a huge bombshell on Wednesday night when they reported that Milan have launched a €30m offer for Olmo.
They added that Dinamo are willing to let him go as long as they get the go-ahead from his entourage, with Olmo and his team of representatives also keen on the move meaning a deal could be done ‘soon’.
The player’s agent dropped a cryptic hint that developments were happening as he refused to comment on the speculation, stating: “For now I would not like to comment on anything.”
However, Mirko Barisic has cooled the enthusiasm surrounding a possible move to Milan during an interview with TMW, at least for the time being.
“I don’t know where the news came from, because I am the number one in the club and I can say that I have not received any calls. Neither from Milan, nor from Italy in general,” he said.
“For this I can deduce that it is journalistic speculation. There are still two weeks between now and the end of January so anything can happen. ”
Is Dani Olmo on the market?
“No. He has a contract until 2021 with Dinamo and will stay with us.”
The player has previously hinted that he wants to return to Barcelona, where he came through the La Masia academy.
“This is another matter but there is nothing concretely,” Barisic added.
“€30million? It is certainly a good figure but first someone should come and offer it to be taken into consideration. Let’s say that at the moment we cannot set a price for Dani Olmo, since we have not been asked to.”
