Dinamo Zagreb coach Cacic compares Milan and Chelsea ahead of ‘difficult’ match

By Oliver Fisher -

Dinamo Zagreb head coach Ante Cacic has admitted that he is expecting a ‘difficult’ match against AC Milan, but his side should take confidence from their win over Chelsea.

It is hardly possible for Dinamo to come into this game feeling any more confident than they will be at the moment, given they have started their league campaign with eight wins and a draw in their first nine games, building a 10-point cushion atop the table.

Not only that, but they are top of the pile in Group E too as they beat Chelsea 1-0 at home to get Thomas Tuchel the sack, while Milan drew 1-1 against Red Bull Salzburg to leave the group very much wide open with five games still to play.

Cacic spoke at his pre-match press conference on the eve of the game that will pit the Croatian champions against the Italian champions, with his comments relayed by TMW and translated below.

“We come here first in the group. The match will be difficult, but we hope to repeat the good performance against Chelsea. The team is ready, we will be prepared, we will give everything,” he began.

Who is stronger between Chelsea and Milan?

“It is difficult to answer, they are both good teams. The difference is that we played at home with Chelsea, while tomorrow we will be away. Certainly Milan are a little stronger.”

Leao is considered to be the strongest player at Milan, have you thought about how to stop him?

“Yes, we have analysed Milan’s game and we will certainly do everything to prevent them from playing well.”

What will be the key to success tomorrow?

“Our awareness. We know that Milan are favourites, but we know our strength and we will give our best.”

Have you analysed the match against Chelsea? Will it be possible to repeat the same tomorrow?

“There is never one game the same as the other. If we are concentrated in every line, we will certainly be able to have a good result.”

If the game in the 70th minute is still 0-0, do you intend to play for a draw?

“All matches must be won starting from the defence. We will try to achieve a good result.”
