Catanzaro sporting director Ciro Polito has revealed why Mattia Liberali chose Como over returning to AC Milan.

Alphadjo Cisse is undoubtedly the star of Milan’s start to the season. The teenager arrived this summer from Catanzaro as a bit of an unknown quantity and has already scored two goals in three games, earning Ruben Amorim’s trust.

However, for a short while there was a strong chance that his team-mate at the Serie B club could be joining him under the lights of San Siro. Milan pushed strongly to re-sign Liberali one year after his exit, but ultimately the Italian playmaker ended up choosing Como’s project.

The Calabrian club’s sporting director Ciro Polito spoke exclusively to MilanNews and he shed some light on Liberali’s decision not to return to the club that he came through the academy of.

How satisfying is it that talents like Cisse, Liberali, and Fasavuli are at big clubs?

“All three are a source of pride. I seek out and pamper the players, but they’ve been a huge source of satisfaction. You’d never have thought that these guys would be playing for top Italian clubs in just seven or eight months. It’s also a great thing for Italy, because they’re young Italians, and when they play, they show their talent.”

Was Liberali right to go to Como?

“I don’t know if it was right or wrong. Milan did everything they could to bring him back. I think it was more a question of how he was treated before, of principles. It’s true that I told them that Fabregas is in Como, everything, but at Milan they showed they wanted him at all costs.

“So for Milan today, he and Cisse would have been the starters, but it’s their decision, and whether it’s right or wrong, only time will tell.”

      1. He is a joker here. in this case – double standards. If you read enough ( just a few) his messages, you would know he laughed at every single good player who left Milan. ( vs. poor players, not so much, such as Emerson) lol

          1. you mean everyone is you? and you’re 13 and 1/2? lmao yeah joker 😀
you know people people are 14 better than you know the players right! so innocent.. lol

      2. I think Camarda will get it soon, coz Milan only have 2 centre forward for 1 spot. Comotto might wait for his part. But no pressure, both of them still 18 y.o.

    1. Considering the fact that they have ousted AC Milan and Juventus out of UCL, yes, they are a big club. What is more worrisome is that they will get bigger and better at their current rate.

      1. They are not a big club. How old are you when you think like that? Roma, Napoli, Fiorentina, Bologna, Lazio, Torino, Genoa, they are historically big clubs, Como isn’t not BIG at all even at this moment, let alone generally speaking although I don’t think you very referring to that historical aspect in the first place. It takes a very long period of time for them to get there, they are pretty strong and respectable now and that is all (there is to it), let’s face it.

      2. Allegri ousted Milan out of CL, it has nothing to do with Como.

But still they are not a big club even if they win CL this year.

Its like saying Leicester is a big club because they won premier league once, even thou i think that is more of an achievement than reaching CL.

If there is one thing Milan does well it is mistreating unwanted players
