Donnarumma congratulates Milan on the Scudetto and reiterates: “There is no regret”

Gigio Donnarumma decided to leave AC Milan ahead of this past season as his contract with the club expired. His adventure at Paris Saint-Germain hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing, but he has no regrets.

The 23-year-old rejected Milan’s renewal offer after what had been a very successful season, securing the return to Champions League with a second-place finish. He signed for Paris Saint-German on a free transfer and he has had to fight there.

In addition to sitting on the bench a lot, Donnarumma has already made a considerable amount of mistakes between the sticks. Speaking at the press conference during international duty (via Di Marzio), he congratulated Milan on the Scudetto and said he has no regrets.

“After winning the title in France, the perfect year was completed with Milan’s Scudetto and I congratulate them, they did an incredible job and I’m proud of them. There is no regret,” he stated.

In truth, Milan probably don’t have any regrets either even if it did hurt to lose him on a free transfer. One could argue that Mike Maignan has done even better in his first season than Donnarumma’s last with the club, and the fact that it was the cheaper solution softens the blow as well.
