AC Milan defender Leo Duarte has vowed to fight back after suffering an injury setback and undergoing surgery.
An official club statement on Thursday evening confirmed that that Duarte underwent an operation at the Alfredson Tendon Clinic in Umeå to ‘treat a fracture to the calcaneus at the point where it meets the left achilles tendon’.
The Brazilian – who arrived from Flamengo in the summer – reacted to the news on Instagram.
“Even wounded in a battle, I still feel the strength to fight. Even fallen I try to get up, I fight with claw without fear of defeat.
“My strength comes from God, problems and difficulties will come but you are the one who keeps me. Surgery performed successfully, let’s move on!”
