Dutch journalist describes Dumfries to Milan as ‘complex’ and reveals price tag

By Isak Möller -

In recent weeks, AC Milan have been linked with many youngsters, including the 24-year-old Denzel Dumfries. Certainly, the right-hand side of the Rossoneri’s defence is an area that needs improving.

This season, at least so far, Davide Calabria and Andrea Conti have failed to perform on a consistent level. Of course, this has affected Milan’s performances and in the summer, one of them could leave to make room for a new signing.

In an interview with MilanNews.it, Rik Elfrink – journalist for Eindhovens Dagblad / AD Sportwereld – was asked about the Rossoneri interest in Dumfries, who is the captain of PSV Eindhoven. As he described it, the negotiations are ‘complex’.

“It’s logical that Milan are interested in Dumfries, but in this period, a high-level transfer won’t be easy. Dumfries will cost at least €25m, but prices will drop in this period. The clubs are now examining their budgets.

“If the negotiations are complex? Yes, we are talking about one of the best players in the Dutch league. Denzel is also a leader. He was the captain of PSV this season,” he concluded.

Ricardo Rodriguez, who is still owned by Milan, is currently on loan at PSV and the Rossoneri could try to insert him into the deal for Dumfries. Once the situation has become more clear, there will be more information on the matter.
