Santiago Gimenez arrived in January as the big money striker AC Milan have been crying out for, but he has not been able to have the regular impact many would have hoped for just yet.
Signing a big money player in January is always a risk, and many believe that Milan should have made a move for Gimenez, or someone else for that matter, in the summer, allowing them to bed in during pre-season.
However, the Rossoneri did not do that.
So, the Mexican has been on the catch up and despite displaying his qualities on occasion, he has not hit the ground running in the way that everyone probably would have hoped so far.
A fantastic example of this was the game against Como, and Milan News have compared the numbers from the favoured Mexican against those of Tammy Abraham – who has regularly been questioned this season.
➤ Minutes played: 68-29 (Gimenez-Abraham)
➤ Assists: 0-1
➤ Ball touches: 18-11
➤ Duels (won): 7(2)- 4(2)
The expectations placed upon the former-Feyenoord man’s shoulders far surpass those on the shoulders of Abraham, and one game is not a suggestion that the club wasted money, far from it.
If anything, it is another reminder about why the business should probably have been conducted sooner, to allow the striker to fully enter the season properly, especially with suggestions he has been struggling to get up to his best level physically.

Tammy is the better option right now….
This cannot be compared because while Gimenez was on the bench, Milan mostly defended low, zoned and did not have possession. Abraham played a good game and that’s great, but neither today nor in the future will he be better than Gimenez. The only problem is that you have amnesia and forget Abraham’s performances 😀.
What nonsense are you smoking? Gimenez isn’t on Abraham’s level. Just because he scored goals in the Eredivise doesn’t mean he has more quality than Abraham. Tammy is a proven striker in the top flight. Gimenez is an unknown prospect in Italy and he looks like he lacks all the qualities a top striker needs at the top flight.
It’s so funny how people talk about Gimenez needing time to settle down, but he’s had over 600 minutes in this Milan side. Abraham didn’t get the same grace when he had a few bad games though, despite joining a new side after a major injury.
Don’t talk nonsense. Abraham has been a multiple starter since September, and ??? How many times have we written that it should be returned to Roma??? Gimenez scored 5 goals in the Champions League for modest Feyenoord, which Abraham will not do for the rest of his career. Come on, fire up Fifa Manager.
What???????
He is so proven that Chelsea got rid of him and and Roma is looking to get rod of him. The season is almost over and you can count Tammy’s good performances with 1 hand bro.
Don’t forget the amount of services he wasted that Santi hasn’t recieved.
This what happens when you are clueless. Chelsea notoriously sells their academy players. And Roma got rid of him because he had an ACL injury and thought they could do better with Dovbyk.
Abraham doesn’t get much service either. Most of his chances comes from his good positioning. Santi can’t get in those positions because he’s not that guy. He expects everything to be put on a silver platter for him.
gimenez has this weird thing that he goes to the wings. so when they go to attack, he’s either too wide or not there at all. Dont know if conceicao tells him to do that or he does it.
another thing i noticed was that the team kept alternating positions, but in the second half when gimenez was subbed, they sticked to their positions and formation better.
They should have taken the money from the wing and rb and signed a top st like osihmen.
