Eintracht director lifts lid on ‘last minute’ Rebic deal; confirms there is no option to buy

Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Bruno Hubner has revealed some of the details regarding the deal which saw Ante Rebic swap places with Andre Silva.

The Croatia international arrived at Milan on deadline day of the summer transfer window, joining on a two-year dry loan deal with the Portuguese striker going the other way on the same terms.

After struggling massively for playing time until Christmas, Rebic has established himself as a key player under head coach Stefano Pioli since the turn of the year. The 26-year-old has five league goals for Milan in 2020 (out of ten) and has scored three match-winners in the process.

Now, Hubner has lifted the lid on the operation during an interview with Kicker (via MilanNews), confirming there is no option to buy for the Diavolo at present.

“We had to do the transaction at the last minute, so we opted for a loan exchange without agreeing any sum for future purchase,” he revealed.

“The operations were initially connected, but now they are absolutely disconnected from each other.”
