Victor Eletu is on the road to getting back towards his best with Milan Primavera after a long absence and he has spoken about finding his feet again.
It was back in December 2022 that we first published a scouting report on Eletu given that he was shining under Ignazio Abate. Playing as a holding midfielder, he was impressing with his dynamism, physicality and his work rate.
However, in April the 2005-born midfielder suffered a serious knee injury that required surgery and the procedure took place on March 28 at the Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio Orthopedic Institute. It ruled him out for the rest of the season, and crucially the UEFA Youth League final four.
Eletu spoke to Milan TV about the serious injury that he overcame and all the joy of his return, especially after scoring a crucial goal in the recent win over Fiorentina.
How have you found the last few months?
“It’s been a difficult few months because I’ve never been so still. It was hard to manage the situation, but I managed it also thanks to the help of my girlfriend. The goal? I’m very happy, I knew I would score, she asked me to and I was physically fine.”
What are your thoughts on the new coach Federico Guidi?
“I’ve known him for two years as Roma’s coach. As an opponent he was a nightmare because he makes his teams play very well. I’m happy to work with him now, he knows how to bring out the best in players, I really like him as a coach.”
The Primavera are quite a young team this year, given the creation of Milan Futuro…
“We have a lot of 2008-born and 2007-born players. In recent years we have played with more experienced players. This is a different year for this very reason. It’s up to me to give a hand to the youngsters.
“I’ve been playing in this category for three years, I have experience and I can pass on important values to the youngsters. Now is the time to win, we want to finish among the top spots in the league.”
How can he have surgery in March for an injury suffered in April?
You know the months repeat themselves every 365 days
So he got injured in April 2023 and was operated on in March 2024? Is that what you’re saying?
