Emerson Royal

MN: ‘Start to re-evaluate him’ – Emerson attempting to ‘win everyone over’ after silencing critics

When AC Milan announced the signing of Emerson Royal in the summer, there were more jokes made than hopeful thoughts. Nevertheless, he is aiming to win over the fans.

Emerson’s career has seen him feature as a range of different players. Once upon a time, he was believed to be one of the next big things, but then a move to Tottenham Hotspur saw his career stagnate.

So when it was reported that Milan were looking to add the Brazilian this summer, the reaction was quite negative. Unfortunately, for the right-back, this continued into his Rossoneri career, and his start to life was rather mixed.

Initially, it seemed like he had brought balance to the side, with him and Christian Pulisic levelling both wings. However, as time has progressed his performances have been questioned, especially as Pierre Kalulu has been excelling in Turin.

Nevertheless, he is now attempting to win everyone over, as Milan News claims. The report states that his effort and tactical focus have made him somewhat ‘stand-out’ ish, despite his limitations, and after a good performance against Empoli, it could be time to ‘start to re-evaluate’ him.

Performances must, of course, be consistent from here on out, but the Diavolo may have made a shrewd decision taking a ‘risk’ on Emerson if they continue like Saturday’s.

  1. UH UH Strašo jaka procjena Emersona i to zamislite protiv EMPOLIJA on pokazuje svoju Brazilsku Moć !! Sramota ovog novinara što mi moramo čitati !!!

  2. What critics did he silence? He is just an exotic version of Calabria. We needed an upgrade, not more of the same. We need better than both Vanilla and Exotic, we need a competent RB.

  3. If he gets injured and never plays again this season I would give 0 fúcks. He’s trash and belongs in a trash can not AC Milan.

      1. Why? Because I don’t like Emerson? I never liked him before and I don’t like him now.
Should I like him because he plays for Milan?

4 example, dollar comes back 2 Milan. Should I like him as well? Or snake hakan comes back 2 Milan. Should I like him? I never liked him.

        I support the club.

When people are roasting krunic, when people are roasting calabria, pobega. Tatarusanu. The coach. Owner. Management.
        All good.

When I say I don’t like Emerson royal.
        ‘You’re not a supporter, you’re a troll.

        F U C K Y O U flossonero.

        1. Saying you’d not care if a player gets injured is the pinnacle of douchebaggery.
You can “not like” a player, whatever that means. Or just prefer someone else for the position. But while they are playing for YOUR team you should want them to do well, and you should never wish an injury on anyone. You are quite simply an a$$hole.

          1. I didn’t wish anything on anyone..learn to read.

And I don’t care. He’s useless. A primavera player can do what he does. But better..and for a fraction of the salary.

And yes. I am an asshoʻle. The world needs people like me so you regular folk have something to whine about.
Just be grateful I’m not a karen

      1. Algorithm? Where was Fonseca? If Fonseca says “Kalulu will be my starting RB” Kalulu would have stayed instead of Royal coming in. But it doesn’t look like he felt that way. The Kalulu/Royal affair is as much on Fonseca as anyone else.

      2. But to your point, it’s also evident that they wanted a more offensive RB. Neither Calabria or Kalulu offer much going forward….and apparently neither does Royal.

        1. The fact is that Fonseca has not been as demanding from this management as he has been from his players. The latter point is actually why I want him to stay. The problem is the following.

Our starting RB isn’t working out, we have no covers for either of our current double-pivots, not Theo…

4 players are missing no matter how you look at it.

Parisi and Fagioli are the easy yet fickle deals that no one from these circus du solei can do…

for both player we have the advantage since Adli and Kalulu are at said clubs and with 10-15M investment plus balancing with these deal that I mentioned, we can get them…

Both are the right profile and quality but you need to spend some dough, which Gerry doesn’t want. Some people will say but Gerry spends, but he also always gets his money back…

There should be a final decision at the end of the season who stays between Calabria and Emerson, I don’t get how the Brazilian is better but ok… So 1 starter has to come and that’s also a problem, since most quality ones cost a lot. Tomiyasu sounds like a solid choice (contract until 2026), but again Gerry spending money is hilarious.

Between Belahyane and Frendrup tbh I don’t care, both I think can handle subbing Fofana.

      3. No, he’s not. You guys have short memory. Kalulu had several bad games with us after the scudetto, before being injured. And yeah, not to mention his injury record.

Emerson is decent defensively, even better than decent, and mediocre/non-existent on offense. It’s probably the best we could have got at that price.

    1. I don’t get the hype about him. It seems like a dated narrative that is blown away out of proportion similarly to that around Maldini at Monza. One goal or one clean sheet and then there is supposed to be regret on Milan’s part. I don’t get it!

      1. Daniel Maldini isn’t even a starter at Monza.
They started winning and playing better when he got injured but people talk about him like he is Retegui or Kaen.
        Football version of Bronny James.

        1. Great conparison. Without their respective last names, no one would be talking about them. Add to the fact that he is already 23 years old and no longer really a prospect and it is more difficult to understand why all the hype.

Kalulu has also been playing as a CB for about half his matches. That really is what makes him more “valuable” and difficult to compare directly with our RBs. I don’t think he is a bad player at all but people make it out to seem as if we gave up on a star defender. I think 20M euros is a fair sum for a player of his caliber and am perfectly fine selling at that price.

  4. I think there is a mistake in the article. They were probably trying to talk about Reijnders or even Fofana or heck even Musah.

  5. Kalulu excelled in Turin because he had a strong partner in Bremer and a speedy fullback in Cabal to play with.
With both of them out, we now see how well he plays when he’s leading the line, and the results are not pretty.
Without Bremer, he’s conceded 10 goals from 2 October to 5 November. More recently him and his team conceded a last minute goal against Giampaolo and Rebic’s Lecce.

Not exactly the best advertisement of “solid defense”

  6. The irony is we brought in Royal to offer more going forward and so far he’s offered nothing of the sort, and he is so poor at defending that we need to play a B2B midfielder at RW help him.

  7. At this point in time Emerson is better than Calabria but he is still bad and that says alot. Jiminez would do a better job.
