Emerson Royal’s agent offers insight on Milan move: “A serious, long-term project”

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of Emerson Royal has revealed some of the details regarding his client’s move from Spurs to AC Milan after what was quite a long negotiation between the clubs.

Milan have been linked with Emerson ever since he was at Real Betis, but this summer was finally the right one in terms of getting him in a red and black shirt as his arrival was made official yesterday.

The Rossoneri officially announced the signing of the 25-year-old on a permanent transfer from Tottenham Hotspur, with the former Barcelona man penning a deal until 2028 and becoming the third signing of the summer.

It felt like a pursuit that would not have a happy ending at various points given how long it took to eventually reach an agreement, with two quite stubborn managements wanting to get the best terms possible.

Emerson Royal’s agent, Stefano Castagna, spoke to Calciomercato.com about the Brazilian’s new chapter and the negotiations that led up to the eventual handshakes.

“The negotiations were long but in the end the white smoke arrived to everyone’s satisfaction. Emerson absolutely wanted the Milan shirt and he also worked hard, he pushed to come here,” he said.

“Yes it was long, but we did it. The negotiations lasted a long time because there are two important clubs in the middle and therefore they have to do their job.

“First sensations? Well he signed for one of the biggest clubs in the world and when you enter the trophy room there you see everyone there, you realise where you are. In any case it is something big.

“[It is a] Long contract because this is a serious, long-term project. Did he choose the number twenty-two shirt? Well for the Brazilians we know what it means, we hope we can do well.”

  1. Welcome to Milan, Emerson! Unlike some fans, I’m happy you have signed for us. I’ve followed you since Barcelona and you’re a way better player than our captain. One of our weakest side for years has always been our left back position held by Calabria who barely moves forward with good crosses for our strickers up front. If you can go to your Barcelona’s form and your first seasons at Tottenham, Milan will benefit a lot.

    1. So full of shît. He didn’t play for Barcelona if you really followed him you’d know that.
And left back? Really? It’s true tho. Left back has been our weakest position.. Until we signed theo. The garbage that played there before.. makes one shiver

  2. After Emerson, if we can manage to sign Fofana for the DM position, and on top of that get Chiesa to challenge Chukweze on the right side, we should be ready for the upcoming season. I would sign Chiesa in a heartbeat if he accept to lower his wage.

  3. I’m sorry I meant right back has been one of our weakest link for years. And yes, he was good for Barcelona every time he was given a chance and then got injured. He’s a better player than our beloved Calabria

    1. Idk why you’re lying. He literally played 3 games for Barcelona in August 2021 then he got sold to spurs on the 31st of the same August 2021. There was no injury in fact he basically never gets injured and he spend a total of 90min on the pitch for barca.
I don’t understand. Are you confusing him with some other player or something?
