GdS: ‘No place for him in this Milan’ – summer signing faced with almost certain exit

Emerson Royal only signed for AC Milan last summer, but a journalist has claimed that his career with the club is already ‘over’.

The full-back arrived on a permanent deal from Spurs as part of the most recent summer mercato, but just a few months after his arrival there was already talk of him departing after a number of sub-par performances.

The sliding doors moment was the game against Girona in the Champions League back in January, one which could have been his last match with the Rossoneri. His transfer to Galatasaray seemed a done deal, but then a serious calf injury put the deal on hold.

He is now closing in on returning, but Luca Bianchin – in a video published on the La Gazzetta dello Sport website – spoke about his future, which seems almost certain to be away from Milan.

“Where has Emerson Royal gone? He got hurt two months ago on one of those days that change your life. He seemed ready to move to Galatasaray, but that day he hurt his calf and so he moved to the infirmary,” he said (via Radio Rossonera).

“In these weeks he has divided his time between Italy and Brazil where he has worked on his recovery. For him, his career at Milan is over, and let’s put it this way: it was short but intense.

“For 5 months he was a bit of everything, a starter on the pitch and a character on social media, where some appreciated him, and some held him responsible for everything, from the 1v1 against Tavares on the wing to global warming.

“There is no place for him in this Milan. It is difficult for someone to buy him, much more likely that someone will arrive with a loan bid, in Brazil or Turkey.”

  1. Couldn’t cut it at spurs it was obvious he wouldn’t cut it at Milan, no bias but how was he going to start for a better team? Management really dropped the ball we already had an inconsistent Calabria

  2. We got rid of a homegrown player for this…
For Emerson royal and a 35yr old walker…
The fact any if this management still have a job is astounding

    1. Both of whom are better than Calabria, which is why he is no longer here. Calabria is bad and has been for years now, so who cares about him being homegrown.

      1. Emerson is unwanted just a year after he was bought yet you say he’s better than Calabria.

It’s a bs narrative you’re pushing to justify this clown ownership and management. You can stop now, it’s cringy.

    2. Calabria was on his way out either way I think. Emerson is a mystery. Doesn’t take an algo to realize he’s a waste of space.

  3. A lot a lot of flops.

Emerson Royal, Tomori, Chukwueze, and Ruben Loftus Cheek, are first in line who needs to leave as soon as possible when market opens.
To create space for players who stay, and to make ability for a few new arrivals (strong new centre back).

    1. You seem to have forgotten to mention Pavlovic, Jovic, Florenzi, Terraciano, Felix, Sottil. Or don’t they fit your obvious criteria?

  4. Here’s a fun fact to trigger all the haters..
Milan’s record in games Emerson started:
12-5-5 including 2 wins over Inter and wins over Real Madrid and Juventus.
Milan’s record when Emerson hasn’t started:
    10-4-7 with no notable wins.
Also the majority of our clean sheets came when Emerson started along with a lower goals conceded per match.

Still think he was the problem?

    1. Stop with this bs justification. They want to offload him after just a season. Even Constant, Mesbah and Armero had bigger impact in this shirt than him.

    2. You’re sounding a lot like Maldini’s Heir trying to correlate Calabria’s presence to Milan’s success…

  5. For just a little extra we could have signed Belanova !!!! Incredibly bad decision making from this management, bunch of clowns

    1. Don’t forget that Raul was in our academy!
I still can not understand who and why brought Royal to Milan. Fonseca? That’s why we need a proper DS.
