AC Milan have suffered a double blow as Emerson Royal is not only out with a serious injury, but it is one that will probably mean he cannot leave the club.
It was reported yesterday during the build up to the game that Emerson was ‘one step away’ from leaving Milan, with his agent in Italy to work on a potential exit. Galatasaray were the main club mentioned, but also Everton and Fulham in the Premier League.
He started the game against Girona despite these reports circulating, and naturally disaster struck within the first couple of minutes as he went down in a great deal of pain while chasing a ball down the right side.
According to Matteo Moretto of Relevo, the injury suffered during the Champions League match against Girona will force him to miss approximately two months, as he has suffered a quite severe calf problem.
The chances of him leaving Milan in January have now ‘decreased considerably’. Galatasaray had agreed to meet with the Rossoneri directors today to define and close every detail of the operation, but now they are likely to pump the brakes on that.
The Brazilian had not closed the door to the idea of going to Turkey either, though now his main focus will be on recovery. A player can still pass a medical with an injury, though given he will be out for around eight weeks, he will be unable to contribute for a while.
I cant understand why was he selected when was put on transfer list and why risking injury like it happened. Royal staying is maybe the worst possible news.
It was (another) must-win game last night and for whatever reason Conseicao thought Royal was more likely to help us win it than Calabria… Don’t think I’d have done the same thing tho seeing as Royal had one boot out the door..
I think it’s a case of lack of communication. The management should have informed Conceição that the player is leaving and that he should therefore not rely on him.
Furthemore, I don’t know what he sees in him (if indeed he sees something in him). Aside from the game against Como, Emerson never helped him get any win and was actually the worst player on the pitch against Juventus.
However now that he is injured for long and that we need to register Walker, I think we will take Emerson out of the UEFA squad and register Walker.
We still need to somehow make room for Jimenez, so perhaps sell Loftus-Cheek and get Ricci, but that’s unlikely.
I agree – not much is going to happen in however many days are left. If we get Walker and Gimenez I’d say that’s not bad for a slow January.
Failing to sell Emerson means no Gimenez. It’s not Galliani & Berlusconi in charge anymore. We haggle for every cent these days.
“It was (another) must-win game last night and for whatever reason Conseicao thought Royal was more likely to help us win it than Calabria…”
That is the most logical theory, however I get attacked when I point that out by all the conspiracy theorists who believe management has told both coaches not to play Calabria and to play Emerson even when they are trying to sell him, which makes no sense of course.
Either way it was not a very smart move to play Emerson if in fact they were about to sell him.
Sure and thats right . Very well done .ACM . Good job ACM.
Without half of parts in lines we did it . I hope tactics and mood still rises forza .
No kiddo, you get made fun of because you’re a clown who tries to argue Emerson is our best fullback when it’s very obvious he’s the worst player on the roster. You spend you’re time hating on all the Italian players, especially Calabria because you hate that we all want him to play over your off Emerson, and you’re still crying that we replaced the fraud Fonseca with a better coach. You’re made fun of because you act like a clown, so hush
Nothing against Conceição as I quite like what I’ve seen from him as of yet on various parametres but this one is partially on him even if Royal was unlucky to get injured early on the portuguese coach should never have let him start the match if Royal was in fact about to leave us.
Hopefully it wont interfere with our winter Mercato but in the end it probably will.
Yeah I agree, if he was properly informed of the situation then Emerson should never have stepped foot on the pitch. It’s such a standard practice to not play players who are about to be dealt, it makes me wonder what the management communicated to Conceicão. Surely if management told him not to play Emerson, he would not have played?
Absolutely if he was in fact about to be sold then the coach should had been clearly informed to not field him. I can nevertheless understand if in an emergency situation he had gotten a few minutes towards the end of the match but overall he shouldn’t have played at all.
Agreed, this is on the coach – Most big teams that have a player looking to move, will have them on the bench at least, if not out of the match day squad.
Big faux pas!….
Maybe max 15 minutes towards the end of the match if absolutely necessary, otherwise we really should and could avoided this debacle of a situation.
There’s no way you sign someone that won’t be fully fit till mid April.
Hopefully it won’t dent his value too much and he still goes in the summer.
Even more hopefully, this doesn’t impact Gimenez.
Almost an unforgivable mistake by all the higher ups at Milan starting from the coach. Emerson is dreadful. There was an off ramp here to the disastrous signing made last summer. Walker was incoming as well. And yet for some idiotic reason they decided to play him yesterday. It literally makes no sense. It’s not like Emerson contributes anything of value to the team and he’s easily the worst play on Milan’s starting 11. Why risk it and not just play Calabria? It’s mind boggling to me.
Everyone was happy, how “Emerson is leaving “, and stupid player made big mistake in passing last night and than injured himself.
They should stop write about possible transfers. Ali only about transfers that did happen
Just like a said would happen. A completely amateurish situation. Fitting outcome for this Milan. The circus keeps rolling.
Haha Yeah I can sorta already hear the international clown song “Entry Of The Gladiator” playing in the background 😀
Most expensive 2 minutes of football we’ve ever had from a player!
I don’t have the scapegoating dislike of Emerson that many here seem to, I think there’s a good player in there somewhere if a coach can unlock it and I appreciate his work rate….. we’ve had plenty of players with less commitment than him…. but his concentration has definitely been questionable.
But if the club was counting on receiving income for anything else (such as Walker’s signing) then this is bad news for the team.
Still, if he stays and gets his way back into the team later in the season, I’ll cheer him on and hope for Conceicao to work some magic with him – his energy and ability to get forward makes me think he could have value in a back 3 or 5, but the rest of our squad isn’t really suited to that.
” I think there’s a good player in there somewhere”
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Thanks. I needed that.
If no-one thought that, he wouldn’t be paid millions of Euros a year, have seven successive seasons in two of the top leagues in world football, have played for Barcelona, Tottenham and Milan and have ten caps for Brazil. Clearly he has his positives as well as his negatives, but it’s the nature of the football supporter to see a binary instead.
3 matches and 90 minutes with Barcelona. Yeah. Right there with Messi in the GOAT-section. VIP. GOAT of the GOATS. Legendary. Immortal. Royal.
Hello
Jimenez and Kyle must now give a games to Leao and Chukwueze
I never seen before as this big ACM as now
Royal is good too anyway
Jimenez – Kyle to – Leao – Chukwueze
I can’t understand why you start a player when he is transfer listed. Just our luck and typical of milan. Now he won’t be sold in January and you will probably have a hard time offloading him if you freeze him out of the team for the season.
Kay
– We must stay Big
– Never saw attacks in his corridor
— Big in charged bench is big too – LOL but Leao and Luka for example, stay focused am saying big means big
– Our Managment works too
– and now am really wondering who will caharge in captaincy
Management should have known better. I dont think everyone would be this dumb to let a potential exit play if this was a certainty. If transfer talks were at an advanced stage they should have and would have interfered. Maybe the stage of the deal was more speculative/media hype….
I hope he is not another BT or Origi.
(Unable to sell and stay forever…)
If in the past we had Pioli, Krunic and Rebic as threesome. Now we will have new threesome: EmerSoB, F*** Bollo Tore, and OroghiMaru..
Ballo Toure has just been released in recent days.
Wow you’re right, recently he was signed by other club for free.
I had actually only seen that he had been released but yeah I can see you are right that he signed for Le Havre in France so thanks for the info of him joining a new club.
Great job by management. Not only he cost us the game point but also budget fund and room space for better player.
good and bad we wont see him for a while but he wont get sold now
He brought karma onto himself when he went in studs up on Jovic during 5 v 3 and clattered Jovic out of nowhere with no apology or even acknowledgment, it was definitely a “I’m frustrated Walker is coming so I’m bout to go extra aggressive in training” attitude. Unfortunately his karma for being bitter about being replaced has derailed the rest of the transfer window. Why he was playing is the big question
Why on earth was he played when you know he was going to get transferred??? Terrible decision.
Now we are likely stuck with this trash. 15M BUST and his fat salary stays on the books
Terrible decision my management. They should have told the manager he has to sit in the stands.
We are not a serious club
Absolutely horrendous decision. He shouldn’t have been starting regardless because he’s easily our worst defender by a mile, much less when we need to get rid of him. Now we’re stuck with him because we refused to be intelligent…ironically being in the treatment room is arguably the best thing he can do as a player, cuz now he won’t be costing us matches
This is supposed to be the biggest transfer for Milan In Jan. I am afraid this dude stuck at Milan like Origi, Ballo-Toure.
Bingo. I can only echo the comments here.
Total and utterly amateurish behaviour. It’s like they don’t understand the cost of keeping the next Origi. You have to sell total garbage asap. Don’t take any risks. This could have long running repercussions as our management is so penny pinching.
Eg no Emerson cash, so no gimenez transfer, so no UCL, so forced to offload another first teamer eg Tonali , so another season of rebuilding and we go sideways or backwards instead of improving
Shocking
This is fully on Conceicao.
Bad luck. Almost got rid of him. Now we stuck with him until his contract runs out.
I know it’s sound’s brutal , but good is he is out for rest of the season. I believe with Calabria and Walker we are better chances for top 4(or top 5)
