Athletic: €65m signing pushes Man Utd defender towards exit – Milan and Roma interested

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in signing Manchester United defender Eric Bailly but they face competition from a Serie A rival, a report claims.

According to a report from The Athletic, Milan are interested in signing Bailly as they are in the market for a new centre-back, bit Jose Mourinho’s Roma are also ‘keeping tabs’ on the situation, given that the Portuguese manager worked with the Ivorian during his time at Old Trafford.

United confirmed the signing Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez yesterday for an initial fee of €55m that could have €10m worth of add-ons yet as well, while means that Bailly is now ‘further down the pecking order’.

Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Raphael Varane are all above him in the eyes of Erik Ten Hag and that could convince Bailly to try a new experience. He would certainly bring experience to the Milan ranks, but he only played four league games last season for the Red Devils.

  1. I’d be very up for this move. I think there’s a quality defender in there. He can come here and be nurtured by the best and fulfil his potential

      1. He’s had one red card in 70 premier appearances for utd…that’s hardly Ramos is it…..

Mourinho rates him which I think is significant. Jose likes a defender.
