ESPN: Milan to announce signing of Everton playmaker on deadline day after reaching agreement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan appear to have not yet given up on signing James Rodriguez from Everton, according to a report.

According to ESPN (via Marca), the only certain thing is that the Colombian wants to leave Everton soon due to the fact they will not play in Europe and his mentor Carlo Ancelotti left for Real Madrid. His agent Jorge Mendes has been probing potential destinations and Milan have appeared again as an ‘escape door’ for James.

Vito de Palma of ESPN spoke during the broadcast of Milan vs. Cagliari last night and apparently mentioned at the end of the game that the Rossoneri have an agreement with the Colombian and his representatives to sign him and that it will be announced in the last hours of August 31 as a ‘bombshell’.

ESPN believe Milan will not pay for the transfer of James, since its policies do not include spending for players over 26 years of age, but he has a contract until June 2022 with Everton and them letting him go for free seems difficult to imagine.

  1. It would be really good to have one more AMC. He has superb vision and passing, and we can’t go to CL and Serie A with 1 player in that position.
