ESPN: PSG to target Milan star with Mbappe heading for Real Madrid

AC Milan star Rafael Leao is being lined up by Paris Saint-Germain as they are now resigned to losing Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer, a report claims.

According to ESPN, Mbappé has been offered a contract by Real Madrid and he could announce next week that he has chosen them as his next club, despite the fact he has not told either club about his decision.

He wants to be able to play in the Olympic Games in France in the summer, something that became a key talking point during his negotiations with Los Blancos.

PSG offered Mbappé a rise on his €72m gross salary but he turned it down. Instead the winger will depart on a free transfer and by doing so he will be ‘opting out of bonuses that amount to around €100m’.

He will apparently earn half of what he currently gets at PSG by moving to Real Madrid but he grew up dreaming of playing for Real Madrid and he thinks now is the right time to make the switch.

ESPN add that PSG have been preparing for the idea that he would not sign a new deal, and that the Parisians have earmarked Rafael Leão as his replacement.

As we reported earlier in the week, Leao has a €175m release clause in his contract and it is likely that Milan will ask for that amount.
