ESPN: Chelsea winger will reject Lyon – he only wants Milan after agreeing terms

By Oliver Fisher -

Christian Pulisic will turn down a move to Lyon because he has his heart set on joining AC Milan this summer, according to a report.

The Athletic reported this morning that Milan made their first verbal offer for Pulisic which was worth €14m, and it is an amount not deemed enough by Chelsea, while Lyon have offered €25m and they seem inclined to accept.

However, ESPN are reporting that Pulisic will turn down Lyon after agreeing terms with Milan. While the French side have submitted a bid, it is less than the €25m reported and a significant portion of it is made up in add-ons.

Sources have told them Lyon are also unable to match the wages that the Rossoneri are offering and that the USA international does not see them as the right club, instead wanting to remain playing Champions League football.

Milan intend to make an improved offer after seeing their opening bid of €15m rejected, while the Blues are demanding €25m given they paid €64m to sign him in 2018 from Borussia Dortmund.

His time at Stamford Bridge has since impacted by injuries, but he has made 145 appearances across four seasons and was part of their Champions League-winning side in 2021.

  1. Well… If we’re hoping to get him this should increase the odds and lower Chelsea’s demand. I don’t know if I want Pulisic here but I still want Milan to announce the next signing already and he’d better be an upgrade to the last season’s squad.

  2. If he is prepared to wait a year for Milan instead of moving this summer, then all credit to him. We’ll see how it turns out, I’ve fingers crossed we can strike a deal for under 20m for him.

  3. The Athletic report was a smokescreen to try and pressure Milan into a higher bid. Chelsea would have zero offers if Pulisic wasn’t willing to take a big salary cut (which he has agreed to for Milan), so they really don’t have the luxury of choice that they are trying to portray. I do think Milan will have to raise their bid, which I’m sure they intended to do from the beginning, but Chelsea also are going to have to make a deal with a team Pulisic agrees to go to. That makes Milan the only destination at this moment in time.

  4. Why does pulisic suck? Because he didn’t do well at chelsea? Neither have 90% of the players there. Koulibaly was rated one of the best defenders in the world and he flopped and went to Saudi. They bought players for over 80m and sat on the bench.

Pulisic on Dortmund was rated to be a world class footballer and he is still 24 years old. Sign him up asap cause he will rediscover his form here.

Can only imagine a formation like leao pulisic chukwueze supporting a striker or pulisic on the right. Would be a great attack. Or would you guys prefer to keep seeing messias and saelemaekers?

    1. Because he has injury problems that follow him around. If he can stay healthy he’d be helpful. Chelsea is no indicator of success for sure, but He is a left sided player naturally. So Pioli will either use him out of position or sub him for Leao? Not sure how good of a AM he is.

      1. His best football was payed on the right for Dortmund, why should we play him on the left like the where he flopped?

    1. A lot of people have to vent somewhere seeing all these changes. Makes people uncomfortable. Internet is the place to do it 🙂

    2. I was on RossoneriBlog for years and it was nothing like this. This place has a crazy Reddit feel to it, so many looney tunes.

  5. Pulisic, when he can stay healthy, is a really dynamic forward. If the price is right here he would be a solid addition. He will not be your primary weapon but as the second or third option in attack he can be really deadly. And he’s solid both on and off thx ball.

  6. L’Equipe and now Julian Laurens have both exposed the report on “Lyon’s offer” from The Athletic as propaganda from the UK media.

And it took less than 12 hours. Not a good look for the Brits.
