Ex-Milan defender believes Romagnoli has not made ‘great improvements’ and offers advice to Tomori

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan defender Fulvio Collovati has revealed his belief that Alessio Romagnoli has not grown in recent seasons and has not corrected his flaws.

Collovati – who played at Milan for seven years from 1976 to 1982 – shared his thoughts on the Rossoneri’s current squad and their season so far. The top four race is still wide open and very difficult to call with Milan vying for a Champions League return. If you fancy a gamble, the ultimate casino guide has everything you need to know.

On Tomori and Romagnoli, Collovati said: “Romagnoli made his debut at a very young age in Rome, then Mihajilovic valued him at Sampdoria and then he went to Milan. It was going to be a great career, but it didn’t make any great improvements. He hasn’t improved. You can get to a great team like Milan but then you have to work hard on your flaws.

“As for Tomori, I think he is a very good young man but still too inexperienced. Raspadori got rid of him too easily, but it is a fact of experience. He is fast, quick, but he must understand that in the penalty area he cannot make the player run.”

Could it be a matter of condition for Tomori? “When you are young you don’t have consistency, but it’s normal. I made my debut for Milan and I made my senior debut, I was 19 and I was a starter. The first 5-6 games I played great, then I had a decline. The coach put me back on the bench, it was right. Tomori arrived who never played, so he had great enthusiasm.

“Now he is paying the price of our Serie A. He must be less effervescent, in the advance he is too impulsive. If he had stalled with Raspadori, he would not have been wrong. But this all comes with experience, we are talking about a player who will have a future.”

Could Tomori-Romagnoli work together? “One is right-footed, the other is left-footed, it would be the ideal couple. Then I don’t know what claims Romagnoli has, I think he should be grateful to Milan anyway. Romagnoli-Tomori would be perfect together. There are not many defenders around of so much value.”

Where can this Milan go? “It is evident that life has become complicated, it is useless for me to make predictions. Juve-Milan will be the key match, this is the reality. Juve are not doing very well, they are the biggest disappointment in the league. You can’t say Milan are a disappointment, at most they’re a disappointment now. Milan are the biggest surprise of the league. A Milan that started to fight for the Champions League that was first for six months.”

Collovati was 19 & Tomori is 23. That is a 4 year difference.

So basically what I’ve been saying when Evi else was saying tomori-Kjaer. I did mention that that combination were two right centre backs. Romag-Timori is the better combination. Kjaer is too slow

      Romagnoli is slower.
