CM: ‘An exception to the theory’ – doubts arise as Gimenez announces injury

Santiago Gimenez announced his own injury, and there have been several questions asked as a result of the AC Milan striker’s post.

When Ardon Jashari posted about his injury on Instagram, he was confirming reports and a press release from the club. However, when Gimenez took to Instagram this week, it was not close to being the same.

Instead, it was more of a personal statement released by him and from him that he was going to be out for a period.

Gimenez’s injury confuses

Calciomercato.com, from the off, suggest that this is slightly strange, and it causes a few doubts to arise. The fact that he announced the injury, and a somewhat serious one at that, without any statement from the club, is odd.

Following that, there has to be a look at how Massimiliano Allegri has handled injuries this season. He has been regularly cautious, and whilst there have been issues up front, it seems weird that Gimenez would have had to play through pain. In fact, it seems like an ‘exception to the theory’.

Several key fixtures are approaching, so playing with an injury was a risk that Milan probably could not afford. There are several questions, and Allegri’s press conference tomorrow should give more information.

  1. He is trying to cover up his horrible form, masking it with an injury. He is essentially blaming the club for playing him while he was injured. Bench him until he is gone in January.

  2. We are all the time accusing players for something here without really knowing things. Its OK to say his performance were bad most of the time, but do not say he is covering an injury or something. Same with the Leao bandwagon, he scores, he is OK, he does not score, he is Lazy. He has been terible in the defensive phase always, and he is still bad today. Still he has bean great and decisive for us. You can say he had a bad game, but please, calling him lazy… without knowing how much he trains, what the Alegri asks from him and so on. Leao is explosive, and the explosive runs taka much more energy, so its not always about distance covered.

  3. It’s rare that players don’t play with some pain as the season goes on. The questions are does the pain impact the ability of the player to play and will playing make it worse? That’s it.

  4. This is another example of journalists making much ado about nothing, for clicks. Yes, he’s been injured, and it’s probably true and he’s been to the medical department which has been confirmed by Allegri. But no, somehow it’s construed as the player trying to divert blame, when he did no such thing. He is also probably trying to avoid another call up to the Mexican national team while he is not at 100%. Do notice that the message was written in Spanish, while Santi does speak fluent English, which is more diffused in Milano than Spanish. So, maybe Santi’s intended public in this message was the Mexicans, not the Milanese.
