Exciting signing and a double departure: News about the AC Milan Women

By Steph Insixiengmay -

A crucial offseason has begun for the AC Milan Women and there are already rumblings about changes in personnel ahead of 2022-23.

Milan are interested in young Spanish midfielder, Silvia Rubio Ávila. The player currently plies their trade for Madrid CFF in La Liga Iberdrola. Rubio Ávila has scored a total of three goals this season (Wyscout). She also averages a total of 36.53 passes and completes a total of 2.68 dribbles per game.

She was also instrumental in her team playing the likes of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona to narrow losses. The midfielder is young and has a huge upside and would be a welcome addition to the team. As per our Italian sister site, talks are in an advanced stage but the deal has not been closed yet. It could be finalised within the upcoming days.

Laura Agard to depart

SempreMilan.it also reports that defender Laura Agard is close to leaving the team. The reasons for her departure seem to center on the centre-back’s inconsistent performances this season. Milan finished the Serie A Femminile season by taking in 19 goals, which is two more than they took in during the previous season.

The inconsistency from the centre-backs is part of the reason for this. It was also why the team finished third in the league standings and narrowly missed out on the Champions League.

Agard had previously come to Milan in 2020 after leaving ACF Fiorentina. Before then, the defender plied her trade in her native France with Olympique Lyonnais, where she won the Champions League with the storied side.

Agard has scored one goal and registered two assists for Milan. The defender has also made a total of 60 appearances for the team (42 in Serie A). It is not known where the centre-back will head to next.

Valentina Giacinti also heading for exit

As per Luca Maninetti on Twitter, former Milan captain Valentina Giacinti will most likely leave the team. The forward had a falling out with coach Maurizio Ganz and the rift has not been repaired. The player is currently on loan to ACF Fiorentina and has yet to be recalled to her parent club.

Milan will most likely sell the player to a club abroad, as they wish not to strengthen their domestic competition. However, Fiorentina has also put in a large bid for the forward, as the wish to keep her in Florence.
