Suspensions will be handed out to two officials after the farce during AC Milan’s win over Bologna, a report has claimed.
As La Repubblica (via MilanPress) reports, we have only had three games in Serie A so far and yet refereeing is at the centre of discussion already. The overturned penalty call on Christopher Nkunku has been widely criticised in the media, and there will be repercussions.

The paper claims that the referee Marcenaro will observe a normal rotation, so will not take charge of a Serie A game next weekend. Fabbri – who was in charge of VAR for Sunday evening’s match – will be suspended for two matches, but will be able to return to the pitch to referee.
The incriminating incident
The on-field review of the penalty initially awarded to Milan for Freuler’s foul on Nkunku is the incident that has caused all this, which was later ruled not a penalty by the referee upon review.
The problem is that Lucumi’s first foul – one that should have been punished with a red card – was not shown to the on-field referee. This didn’t sit well with the AIA (Italian Referee Association) and they have decided to act.
This isn’t the first incident involving referee Fabbri and Milan. Last season, he took charge of the Rossoneri twice in Serie A: in the away match against Cagliari, he wasn’t called for an on-field review to disallow Zortea’s goal for Luvumbo’s offside. In a home match against Roma, he didn’t spot a foul by Pisilli in the Roma penalty area on Reijnders.

So only 2 games suspended ?? if that double fault and another handball it’s not a penalty then I don’t know what it is. A team could lose the title for 2 points and the consequences? Oh suspended 2 games
He should be fined and suspended, because clearly he is bringing the beautiful game into disrepute!
They been doing such things to Milan on purpose because they don’t face any harsh punishment, when they fine them for bad officiating they’ll be serious and do good job
If only there was a pattern here with Fabbri that the AIA could spot….

Crazy. A corrupt ref could come in and take 3-6 pts from a club (not just Milan) over 2 games and their task would be completed with damage no title, CL or EU football.

The more I read about this there more I’m glad Allegri got his shots in. Italy in a nutshell though: there’s something obvious wrong, bet ignore it and deflect as much as possible. Fkn weak.
Italy is corrupt, and cardinale said Everyone told him not to invest in Italy before he bought milan. But if you watched the Premier league over the past 10 years. Man City bought the refs and league. Even calls in other games to make man city better. Its wild.
Today its Fabbri, tomorrow its someone else, it doesn’t make a difference. The overall refereeing in Italy is poor without any consistency or accountability outside of “skip a game”…

Bologna’s owner is a known Interista and it would not surprise me if he assigned them a nice brown envelope to these officials…you can’t be this blatantly terrible.
they are using VAR technology, but their decision is still wrong. so the problem is their brain.
