Como head coach Cesc Fabregas has admitted that last season’s defeat to AC Milan taught him some important lessons.
The meetings between Milan and Como in 2025-26 actually led to a bit of a rivalry developing between Fabregas and the then-coach Massimiliano Allegri. The Spaniard believed the way his side dominated the game meant they deserved more, especially in the 3-1 home loss in the first contest.

Now, Allegri is the manager of Napoli, and Fabregas was able to get some revenge last night by winning 2-1 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The winning goal came via a gift from the hosts, one that was forced by the high press the former Barcelona midfielder wants to see.
Fabregas spoken in a press conference at the Maradona after the victory against Napoli, and he admitted that those games versus the Rossoneri last season taught him some things. MilanNews relayed his words.

“Yes, it’s true, we have to get used to this year’s level. We played at our best for 45 minutes, and after 15 minutes, we were good in the second half, but we started to realize that they’ve made changes with quality players.
“Understanding this, we played in the last 15 minutes with a low block: we don’t like being there, of course, but we understood that we can’t always play our way. We already understood that last year, especially after that home game against Milan. We have to keep improving.”

Allegri: “i almost got my draw, but var has canceled it. It should be defend style of play and get draw, but i failed yesterday.”
We laughed at Fabregas being a bad loser last year after his team outplayed us and lost.
We can admit now that he was right, right?
Not sure what you mean – he was a d*ck after losing to Milan (and manhandling Saelemakers from the touchline) and he’s still a d*ck now… that said it was good to see Allegri lose his first home game again…
The next stop for Fabregas is going to be a PL top 6 side, or Barcelona or PSG. The next stop for Allegri is going to be a mid-table side. Careers at different stages and trajectories. The jury is still out on Amorim, but thank the powers that be that Allegri is not our coach this season.
Well it’s great that he’s learning and adapting. I think going Allegri is that one manager who likes to suck the life out of games in order to win and Cesc did well to realize that. The way Como setup was a masterstroke and they still were able to offense minded while at it
