Faivre says interest was ‘flattering’ but not joining Milan was ‘a blessing’

Romain Faivre, since the first Milan links emerged, has been known for making quite clumsy statements about his future (and past). And even though he joined Lyon in January, that hasn’t stopped.

The French winger was heavily linked with Milan during the summer of 2021 and the Rossoneri even had a private jet ready in the final days of the mercato. However, they were unable to reach an agreement with Brest over the transfer fee.

In the months that followed, Faivre made it clear that he wanted to leave the club and join Milan, or perhaps another club. And in January, he was signed by Lyon for a fee of €15m as the Rossoneri opted not to make a move.

Speaking to La Provence, as cited by MilanNews, Faivre made yet another eye-raising comment as he said not joining Milan was ‘a blessing’. Completely opposite to what he said just a few months ago.

“It was flattering, knowing that Milan were interested in me. It didn’t materialise and it was a blessing in disguise. I said to myself: ‘you are lucky to be in Ligue 1, in Brest, to play almost every match, take advantage of it. There will be an opportunity to go to a big club’,” he stated.
