Following AC Milan’s defeat to Atalanta, Paulo Fonseca delivered a message of frustration about the officiating of his team’s games, and he is expected to be punished for it.
Instead of taking fault for his system for his tactics, or game plan, Fonseca decided to rant about the poor standard of officiating in this game, as well as others this season, with the Portuguese feeling that Milan had been hard done by again.
As a result of his comments, referees across the top flight were frustrated and want a ‘maximum’ punishment for the head coach. However, it does not seem like the punishment will be that serious.
Instead, Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News) reports that Diavolo’s head coach risks a fine or a one-game suspension for his comments about the officiating performance in Bergamo, but there is no expectation for when a decision will be made.
Milan’s support of his message will not land the club in bother, as there has not been any publication from them themselves. However, Fonseca will probably be frustrated by the punishment, whatever it is.
In addition to this, the outburst will not negatively affect his position as the club’s head coach, given he made management aware that he was going to voice his frustration after the game.
The only issue I have is that no one holds ref’s accountable for when they eff up. A stint or two in Serie B then back to effing things up in Serie A.
Giancluca Rocchi is as big of an idiot you’ll get as a chief too. Came out and tried to explain the intensity of a punch not being sufficient enough for a “punch” from David Luiz to not be a red. And follows that up naturally by defending the no call against CDK…
CLowns and Dinosaurs allergic to change. This is italy.
Pierluigi Collina is needed.
Not that I agreed with all of his calls over the years but I’ve missed him since the day he retired. Best referee ever.
