Fenerbahce have put out an official statement denying that they have submitted a huge package for the signing of Rafael Leao.
In the past 48 hours, multiple sources have spoken of Fenerbahce being keen on Leao, as well as their city rivals Galatasaray. La Gazzetta dello Sport even spoke of a potential offer of €50m, plus €10m net salary per year for the player (or more), which would make it a massive financial outlay.

It is perhaps not the done thing in the rest of Europe, but the Turkish side have moved to officially deny the claims that they have made bids both for Leao and for Stuttgart’s Ermedin Demirović.
“The reports circulating in the media today regarding our club’s interest in Stuttgart player Ermedin Demirović are completely unfounded. Fenerbahçe Sports Club has not taken any steps to transfer the player in question.
“Similarly, rumours that we’ve submitted a total offer of around €100 million – including transfer fees and salary – for Rafael Leão are false. No such offer has been made to either the player or his club.
“Our sole objective is the return leg against Górnik Zabrze, a tie in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, and advancement to the next round.
“We urge our fans not to believe speculative claims and rumours that attempt to divert attention, passing off as genuine transfer deals that don’t exist, or focusing on players who aren’t part of our plans. This statement is issued for the public’s information.”
MilanNews report that the Turkish club’s interest in the player remains, but it confirms the lack of a written offer to date. Furthermore, Fenerbahce have already expressed a similar stance in the current transfer market.
They issued an official statement denying interest in Marseille’s Mason Greenwood, only for him to then officially sign with Fenerbahce a few weeks later.
