‘To fulfil dreams’ – Feyenoord coach admits Gimenez ‘wants’ Milan move despite wish

AC Milan are persisting in their interest in Santiago Gimenez, and the Feyenoord striker is seemingly edging closer to a move to Italy.

The past week has been mad when it comes to transfers. There have been suggestions throughout January that the side could be ‘revolutionised’, but the extent of incoming and outgoing news has been extreme.

In the past day, two stars have been approached for moves away from Milan, whilst several of the summer signings have also been pursued.

On the incoming front, the Rossoneri have opened themselves to a double signing on the front line, whilst other areas are slightly quieter. Of course, the big story has regarded Gimenez’s move to Serie A, and the Diavolo’s persistence there.

Multiple bids have been submitted and with Alvaro Morata on his way to Turkey, the striker’s arrival is a must, and today, the Feyenoord head coach, Brian Priske, seemingly admitted defeat in his bid to keep the star, as Milan News relays.

“As a coach, I have the task of giving the maximum with the players I have at my disposal. I have an incredibly good working relationship with Dennis te Kloese [the sporting director] and we are on the same wavelength.

“The director does what is best for this club, even when it comes to the possible departure of Gimenez. I would love to keep Santi because he is a very good player. I hope we can keep him, but it’s not just my decision.

“I understand that players have a lot of ambition. It’s part of football when players want to go to big competitions because it’s important to have ambition. The fuel for people in sport is to fulfil dreams, so I definitely understand Gimenez.”

      1. This is literally the sentiment of 90% of the people commenting here, have you seen the comments under the post where Milan was confirmed to be playing Feynoord? People immediately like ‘oh they’ll beat us 4-0’

10/10 fanbase here. They just hide like cowards when called out

    1. NO, they are not.

We might not be in our best moment, and our TEAM is inferior to many, but we will always be the most superior CLUB, regardless of who is at the helm.

There was Milan before Maldini and there is Milan after Maldini.

        1. To be fair Cesare Maldini also played for Milan in the 50ies and 60ies and then coached us in the 70ies so I would argue that people would have to been in their 80’ies to not consider that family name in connection with the club.

        2. Well thanks for the heightened status you seem to have bestowed upon me but Milan’s founding and my birth are not intrinsically linked.

My point is, Maldini is a legend who IS intrinsically linked to our history, in a massive way, and always will be, but he is defined by Milan, Milan are not defined by him.

If Boulden wants to support someone else because there is no Maldini at Milan, I wish him well. We are still a bigger club than Feyenoord.

  1. The management is the problem and i see reasons while they sack Maldini, the management are lowball, they sell players for good price then they buy cheap and lazy players, if you want to make a statement signing then sign gyokeres rather than Gimenez, if the players can’t play to the coach strength then sell the players and buy better players.
