Feyenoord star Gimenez refuses to rule out Milan move despite celebration

While AC Milan were beating Girona 1-0 to get into the top eight of the Champions League, Santiago Gimenez was scoring a brace to beat Bayern Munich.

There has been a lot of talk about Gimenez joining Milan in the past 48 hours. For example, La Gazzetta dello Sport stated that the striker wants the move this month and his entourage are working to make the dream come true.

There has even been a verbal agreement reached over personal terms, which was described as ‘easy’ to achieve, but will be more complicated to convince Feyenoord to sell their striker in the current winter transfer window. Especially after a performance like last night.

After he lashed in the first goal of his brace in an eventual shock 3-0 win over Bayern, Gimenez ran over towards the Feyenoord fans and grabbed the club badge, pointing down as if to gesture “I’m staying”.

However, his comments after the game certainly seemed to leave things a bit more open. Speaking to Ziggo Sport at the end of the game, he put his fate in the hands of his faith.

“The only one who knows my future is God. I put everything in his hands. I have been in love with Feyenoord since the first day I have been here. I have always received a lot of support from the fans and I want to repay them with my goals,” he said (via MilanNews).

Furthermore, on Caliente TV, Gimenez added: “Going to Milan? We’ll see what happens, these are crucial weeks, I leave everything in God’s hands…”

  1. Now that Emerson got injured (whoever decided he should start yesterday should be held accountable for that), he won’t be sold or loaned, which means no money, which means no Gimenez.

    1. There is money, with or without Emerson. Problem is, will Milan spend 40 million in winter or wait untill summer.

Emerson sale is connected only to his bad plays and flops in general. Walker need one spot so someone must be removed from the squad list. Jovic, Emerson are two candidates to be removed from the squad.

Milan wouldn’t spend over 20M€ on anyone immediately. Fact. If any player(s) come, that means the management has been able to negotiate a deal where most of the money will be paid later (summer or 2026). When has Milan last paid full sum immediately? 😀

        1. The only one I can think of was Piatek as I seem to recall that they paid the full amount up front at that transfer which was also made clear it wasn’t common practice.

    2. There should be plenty of money. Atalanta still owe us a fortune for CDK, then there are all the other players like Alexi, Adli, Pobega, Kalulu who will be redeemed. Not to mention other sales we have made.
Sell RLC, Emerson, Chucky etc if money is needed.

I know much of those funds arrive in summer but a large company should be able to front up money before we get paid for those players who left already

      1. Yeah, those sums arrive later but we should be able to pay for the players later too. It’s should just be us who get their money later instead of “every dime immediately”.

    3. Lol, I was shouting the Royal thing from the rooftops before the game. And there were people who were saying “good, Calabria is worse”! WTF?

  2. At this point, it doesn’t really matter if he wants the move I’d suggest, there’s no way Feyenoord are letting him go with a chance for automatic promotion next week against a 2nd string Liverpool team and a chance to qualify for the quarter finals. It’s not like he’s going to lose much value before the summer.

    1. PSV will play against Liverpool and Feyenoord against Lille. But yes, his value should remain the same during the second half of the season.

      1. Sorry, looked at the wrong fixture, thanks for the correction. But yes, if you’re Feyenoord, why would you sell now when his value is unlikely to drop AND he can help you progress one or two extra rounds in UCL, which will earn their club an extra 15-40M.

  3. I’d really like this guy, his first goal was emphatic, great first touch and emphatic finish…so much of an upgrade on what we have

    1. Jumping to a conclusion before he’s even joined and played a minute? LOL. A full 50% of transfers don’t work out. Gimenez has just as much a chance of being a success as Lucca does. You forget context, which is that Gimenez plays for one of the top 3 sides in the league he is in, and therefore is surrounded by relatively good players and gets to play in Europe. The equivalent for Lucca would be getting a chance to play for Inter, Juventus, Milan, etc.

      1. They’re in different class right now. Gimenez has been playing in European competition for 3 years now. Scored against the likes of City and Bayern. Lucca only amassed 1 cameo match in UEL for about 10 minutes in his carrier.

Lucca had a chance to play for top 3 side in Ajax (22/23). He couldn’t even get into the first team, let alone scoring goals.

All of that while being a tad f year younger. So of course, Gimenez is a much more logical choice if we really want a more proven player. Of course, there’s always a chance of him not delivering in his next club. But that’s life.

  4. I don’t think we need to sell before we buy a striker. Milan have 40 million to buy him, the problem is we don’t want to spend most times. In champion league alone we have 55 million ready
