There are growing reports suggesting that Santiago Gimenez is pushing for a move to AC Milan as soon as the January transfer window.
Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Gimenez wants to move to Milan this month and his entourage are working to make the dream come true. There has even been a verbal agreement reached over personal terms, which was described as ‘easy’ to achieve.
It will be more complicated to convince Feyenoord to sell their striker in the current winter transfer window. Their directors, who have already said no to Juventus for David Hancko, intend to hold on to the Mexico international at least until the summer.
However, in the next few hours the agent who officially represents Santiago – Rafaela Pimenta – and the footballer’s father Christian (who also manages his son’s career) will tell them that the forward wishes to join the Rossoneri.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada wanted Gimenez as Alvaro Morata’s attacking partner last summer. Feyenoord’s high request (over €40m) saw them turn back to Tammy Abraham and close the loan swap with Roma involving Alexis Saelemaekers.

Gimenez – who has an Italian passport – remained at the top of the Rossoneri’s wish list. Whether Milan will break through the wall erected by the Dutch club to prevent their striker from leaving remains to be seen, with the Milan management ready to contact Feyenoord after his agents.
There is no possibility of closing a loan with option to buy, at best a loan with obligation. The figure must be worked on, perhaps tying a portion of the sum to the results obtained by the team’s results, such as qualifying for the Champions League and trophies won in the next few seasons.
The €40m that Feyenoord are asking for is deemed too much and there is the intention to negotiate. It is possible that the sale of Strahinja Pavlovic to Fenerbahçe could help bring forward the investment (on the attack) planned for 2025-26.
Meanwhile, Sky are also stating that Milan want to give Sergio Conceicao a striker. After abandoning the Marcus Rashford option and sounding out Chelsea for Joao Felix (the Blues are not open to a loan), the Rossoneri are looking at the Eredivisie.
Gimenez is the first name on the list and in the last few hours there have been contacts with the entourage of the 23-year-old centre-forward, who has scored 13 goals in 17 games in all competitions with the Rotterdam club this year.
Today, Wednesday 22 January, could be an important day to understand the real feasibility of the operation. The option of Sevilla’s Dodi Lukebakio – a Belgian player with different characteristics to Gimenez (he is more of a winger) – remains alive.
Finally, Calciomercato.com state that contacts between Milan and Gimenez have been ongoing for months now and the closeness between the parties remains strong. However, Feyenoord are not currently open to an immediate sale, but would set up an operation for the summer.
The second obstacle is that Milan is thinking first about raising funds and then coming forward with a significant offer to present to the Eredivisie club. The deals involving Emerson Royal, Pavlovic, Luka Jovic and even Noah Okafor could increase the propensity to do so.
Basicaly they want a more expensive version of Retegui that is not proven in Seria A. And all of that when they could have had Retegui for half the price just a couple of months ago. What a bunch of clowns. Can’t belive some of this people even got hired in the first place to run such a big club.
Watch out, you will get called hindsight same as me, although I’ve been screaming about Retegui since 2023 when he was still in Argentina.
👍👍👍
Why wait until he is cap tied in Champions league before working sign Gimenez???
Is the Milan management running on anyhow policy??
Or am I missing something??
We have no business in reaching beyond group (or is it league) stage. Our season is only down to reach UCL spot and nothing else. That’s why I see this move more like a panic unplanned kind of move. In the end of the day tho, we do need a prolific striker. So let’s see.
This can happen only if they sell…
They couldn’t send Okafor on loan. Only if Turkish are really interested in bringing Pavlovic and Royal, I can see Gimenez in Milan. Second option is not visible
He is good player probably he prove me wrong this year i realize he is quality player
No chance PSV are selling for anything like a reasonable price whilst they’re still in the CL. If they’d lost yesterday and lost again against Liverpool, maybe they’d cash in. But as things stand they may as well keep him and try to qualify for further rounds – he’s not going to lose value by summer when they can replace him properly.
He doesn’t play for PSV
He plays for Feyenoord.
As others have pointed out, you’ve got the wrong Dutch team, but your logic is sound. Feyenoord are still in the CL, and have a chance to remain even if they lose to Bayern tonight, as they play Lille on the last league matchday. More importantly, they’ll want to qualify for the CL again this season. So they have very little incentive to sell in January. A monster offer would have to come in, I would say at least 50M or more. And since we are not willing to even get to 40M, I don’t see how we make them think about it. My guess is that he’ll remain at Feyenoord, and if he ever comes to Milan it will be in the summer.
Total 🧢
Not happening NEVER.
They will keep asking 40 mil and Greedy owners never pay 40 mil.
Wouldn’t be better to get J David and pay him what he is asking? Like 6-7 million a year?
Let’s say he plays for us for 4 years and it’s about 25-30 million in total.
Meanwhile Jimenez operation is 40 million plus salary.
We could have got Dybala instead of CDK and we could have got Thuram for 30-35 million as well…
Why we didn’t choose those free agents?
BECAUSE WE HAVE IDIO T OWNERS UNLIKE INTER
J David, M Thuram and Dybala… It’s like guaranteed 50+ goals per season…
and we got Abraham, Morata and Chukwueze ffs, joke
Where do you find this 50 goal version of these players? Especially Dybala. Has he ever even gotten to the 30 goal mark in his career?
I don’t think 50+ for the 3 of them is unreasonable especially if we talking all comps that’s like 20/15/15 which would fall inline with those players stats
I think he means 50 goals between the three of them, not 50 goals apiece. And he’s not far off the mark, although I’d say Dybala is always one rough tackle away from being in the treatment room.
Why won’t Liverpool and his former manager Arne Slot go for him when Liverpool are apparently looking at options upfront?
There are plenty of examples where a manager brings in players from former clubs, so maybe Milan should take their lack of interest as a sign?
I would love a striker, but the midfield is bleeding and in dire need of quality reinforcement. This team is lacking leadership, both on and off the field.
There can be several reasons. Maybe Arne Slot is smart and doesn’t only get players who he knows, like a Ten Hag did. Or maybe he thinks Gimenez doesn’t fit in the Premier League.
We always reach agreements with players but never with their clubs…clowns. This is becoming a trend, chase clout and players you can’t buy then get scraps at the end of the transfer window 🤣
We can spend 60 million more than we earn over three year. Even at a deficit this season we could fall back in line with FFP by selling this summer and buying him now. The excuse that we have to sell first doesn’t stand nor apply. We can afford his contract and fee this year without more sales. The ownership just doesn’t want to pony up his money to do it because he can’t afford it.
Exactly. Also, clubs in UEFA competitions can have a squad cost equal to max 70% of revenues. Milan’s current squad expenditures are at around €250m and revenues of about €450m.
But certain folks are easily manipulated and brainwashed by cheap ownership, thinking we’ll go broke spending more than 20 millions a player and offering more than 5 million salary.
Not here to defend ownership, but where are you getting your numbers? Deloitte has AC Milan 2023 (most recent year numbers are available) revenues at €385,300,000. Remember “revenues” is the gross amount you make, i.e. PRE-TAX. Per the Italian government, the corporate tax rate is 24% (agenziaentrate.gov.it). So that would leave €292,828,000 in INCOME after tax.
NOW, Capology has Milan’s total gross salary for 2023-2024 at €89,660,000 (€94,460,000 for 2022-2023, since Deloitte’s “year” probably corresponds to a calendar year, as opposed to the usual football season). So technically still showing quite a bit of profit, but player salaries aren’t the only expense. In the summer of 2023, Milan spent €128,380,000 (Transfermarkt). So if you take the smaller salary number (2023-24) plus 2023 transfer fees, we get to €218,040,000 total spend.
If you subtract this from the 2023 INCOME, we get €74,788,000. Then we have salaries for non-playing staff, San Siro rent, training facility maintenance (and maybe property tax for Milanello), loan servicing to Elliott, etc. That 75M will go very quickly. So, yeah, it’d not so simple.
Honestly, if they get Gimenez and Walker for Emerson and any non starter CB that would be great business by the management. It’s very hard to improve your team in January, and this will immediately improve two of our weakest positions.
Then all that remains is the defensive midfield department where we actually do have the numbers, but don’t have the quality. Maybe coach can finally get something out of Mussah and Terrachiano
@Baresis; although, our management and Gerry can act like bunch of idiots, but the moves that they are making now if consummated will be very good. Some of us here if not majority don’t seem to see any good in anything.
Where is Romano when we’re in desperate searching for striker to clear of the signing riddles.
Mark my word. ‘Milan will not buy’. Milan can be linked to 2million players and won’t buy any of them.
A week to go and no one has yet signed – desperate times..
its nice to go window shopping when you ain’t got a dime in your pocket eh? Moneyball? nah, Bruv… just brokeball things!
Reminds me in playing and running style of Vieri?
