Fichajes: Chelsea reignite interest in Milan star with €175m clause

By Oliver Fisher -

Chelsea remain interested in signing Rafael Leao from AC Milan and they have received a boost because Paris Saint-Germain have dropped out of the race, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by Fichajes, Chelsea are seriously considering going for Leao at the end of the season as their big spending ways look set to continue.

At 24 years old, he is considered one of Europe’s best players in his position and his impressive record backs up that claim: in 195 appearances for Milan, he has 52 goals and 44 assists.

Chelsea are preparing for the possible departure of Raheem Sterling, who has been ‘put up for sale’ by the London club, but signing the Portuguese international will not be easy as he would command a huge transfer fee.

The Blues would have to consider carefully whether they can make another huge investment given their financial situation and the large expenses incurred in recent transfer windows.

Meanwhile, PSG seem to have pulled out of the race and they are focusing on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Leao has a release clause of €175m which was put in the contract he signed last May.

Leao’s own personal wishes will have a big influence, and he himself has reiterated his commitment to and his happiness with the Rossoneri.

  1. If they wanna give us almost 200mil, then sure. We either have time for his contract remainder or get enough to revamp 4-5 positions with strong signings. His sale alone would fund Buongiorno, Zirzkee, Ferguson, and Samardzic. Romero will be back and has shown he can perform even in a weaker team, and Maldini is also worth giving a chance. I don’t wanna sell Theo, but Jimenez and Bartesaghi are already waiting in the wings as well. We also have Calabria, Florenzi, and Terracciano on the other flank. Then we’d have Buongiorno, Gabbia, Tomori, Simic, and Pellegrino at CB, assuming Kjaer is allowed to move on in the summer. The big question is whether or not we’re holding on to Mike, cuz someone who is as good on the ball as him is nearly impossible to find in goal. We’re gonna need to pay up for once to find another world class keeper who can pass like him.
