AC Milan’s American influence could be about to grow even stronger because they are interested in signing Giovanni Reyna, a report claims.
Milan were close to signing Mehdi Taremi towards the end of the summer for a figure widely reported to be €18m but the deal collapsed, which could however mean that there is some budget remaining for January reinforcements.
According to Fichajes.net in Spain, the management have several names on their list among which the Reyna of Dortmund stands out. The attacking midfielder was initially considered one of the emerging talents of American soccer, but constant injuries have led to a lack of prominence this season.
That has in turn led to rumours about a potential exit from Signal Iduna Park and – like his compatriot Christian Pulisic – the possibility of moving to Milan where he could relaunch his career.
Stefano Pioli has given the green light to this operation as per the report, while Reyna is a player who can play as a winger on either side or as an attacking midfield.
Nonsense.
Milan has plenty of wingers and the genius Pioli is not playing with attacking midfielders anymore so this rumor makes no sense.
Milan needs strikers, not wingers.
It is not nonsense for Milan to buy someone young for lower price.
At least he sounds italian, so could be worse
Would prefer Baldanzi
His nickname is injury.
I want to preface this by saying that I love Gio’s game and he is a hell of a player when he’s on the pitch. But the guy is injured 2/3 or more of the time and when he’s not coaches are using the “I’m limiting him so he doesn’t get hurt again” excuse. It’s soft tissue injuries so they’re never going to go away. If Milan can get him for cheap and they upgrade their sports medicine department then give it a go but don’t expect him to be out there for most matches.
Reyna’s market value has dropped because of his constant injuries, but at one time he was valued over 40m, during a period when he was playing with the likes of Haaland, Sancho, and Bellingham, and scoring and assisting at a tender age of just 18-19.
His contract isn’t up until 2025.
Dortmund is the best place for Gio to stay and try to rehabilitate his skills and value, and Dortmund will definitely want to help him do that before selling him on. They are not the sort of place where they just abandon a bright youth project.
When he’s not injured, Gio Reyna is easily better than Pulisic, in terms of his technique and vision and passing accuracy. And he’s got great defensive ability too. He’s just an all around great player, with central midfield being his best spot.
But, the key is if he can recover his skills after being out for so long with his latest hamstring injury.
No , save budget for next summer season . He is injury prone and ACM dont have MilanLab anymore, just skip
