CM: 240 days out and Fiorentina’s attempt – Milan have clear ideas about Kjaer’s future

By Oliver Fisher -

After over seven months away from competitive action, Simon Kjaer is ready to take to the field in an AC Milan shirt once again.

Calciomercato.com report that Kjaer’s wait to kick a ball in a game situation after will come to an end after 240 as he will be on the field for a few minutes tomorrow night against Wolfsberger in Austria, in what might well be a preseason friendly but actually represents a fundamental step towards his full return.

The 33-year-old sustained his injury back on 1 December 2021 against Genoa, suffering the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament, meaning he had to take a role as a cheerleader of sorts on the sidelines as his team-mates won the Scudetto.

At the moment the former Sevilla and Atalanta man is behind Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu in the pecking order, but for Milan he is not and will never be a second choice. In recent weeks Fiorentina probed the ground but there has never been the desire to even consider a sale, as Milan consider Kjaer to be precious as a player and as a leader away from the field.
